Very solid... 5H, 3ER, 4K, 0 BB over 8 IP with only 1R of support vs hottest team in AL.

HR to the very hot Mike Moustakas (23 HR, including 3 in his last 6 games), a huge blast to RF. Looked like a poorly located FB, up in the Moose's wheelhouse. HR to Gordon, barely into first row of seats - Gordon broke his bat on the swing. Breaking ball right down the middle (ouch!).

Wasn't perfect but better than most of the M's starters, including the King, who is struggling to get anything going. He may be burnt out and done soon it looks like, velocity down, and really not looking good, giving up lots of taters too.

According to the Corvallis G-T, Andrew became only the third Mariner pitcher to ever pitch 8+ innings in his first two starts. That's a damned impressive stat.
Go RED STORM!

Interesting factoid:
Andrew Moore has faced 55 batters in his Mariners career. Yet to walk a batter. Longest streak to start career in team history.

If you are going to give up a home run, doing so with the bases empty is the best way to go. 8 innings and 3 runs is considered a quality start in anyone's book. Run support, run support. He's demonstrating clearly that he belongs; just took him a while to get the ball down consistently. Great career ahead of him! Go Andrew, Go Beaver Baseball Pros!

Fun to watch him in the bigs. He's made a few mistakes that have been hit out of the park. Zero walks and a 0.73 WHIP are amazing.

Ray Miller, the old Pirates pitching coach, back in the days of Manager Jim Leyland and others, had a simple philosophy of pitching. 1) work fast, 2) change speeds, 3) throw strikes. He would have loved Andrew.
We'll see that same thing next spring with incoming freshman, Kevin Abel.
