(Don't worry, I'll get this outta my system soon...)
I'll always wonder might have been had Raz started one of those last 2 games in Omaha...
His control at this point in his recovery was always a wildcard, and it probably wouldn't have made much difference, but there was also a decent chance we could have witnessed an epic pitcher's duel in either game. He just looked so damn impressive and dialed in when he came in against Fullerton. I listened to Casey's justification for starting Bryce during Saturday's pre-game, and I thought even then that he was over-thinking it. I still believe that. Similar to when we played #5 Arizona in the 2nd CWS game in 2007; I remember that Murphy did something kinda funky with his starting pitching. Unfortunately I don't remember exactly what (anybody remember?) but it kinda reeked of desperation. That's what I remember feeling..."I sure hope we're not getting too cute here..."
I know our bats went cold, but when the pressure's mounting in a 0-0 or 1-0 game, I really like the chances of our guys stepping up at the plate when it matters.
Sigh...oh well...

I feel your pain. Don't get me wrong, I will go with Casey's decisions 99.9% of the time. he is truly one of the best in the business, if not the best. But I agree he overthought this one. I wanted to see Raz throwing 95-97 MPH for 4 to 6 inning, then Bryce coming in for clean up, we will never know, but my guess is we would have won either game, especially number 2!
After a few minutes of the high heat, LSU would have had a hard time adjusting to Fehmel...

Maybe someone else can explain it to me, but I still do not understand starting Moore in Game 1. Casey seemed like a lot more of a master in the old format, when the games were more crammed together. In the new format, starting pitching is not at such a premium. It seems like Casey keeps drowning with too many good choices. I still do not like Fehmel pitching in the day. And throwing Fehmel twice to LSU. LSU's coach said that LSU's batters had a lot more problems picking up Fehmel's stuff at night. And you know that, after their first face-plant, those Tiger hitters wanted to hit Fehmel and hit him hard. And surprise.........they did. And then LSU loses two straight at night to Florida. If Florida had finished off TCU on Friday, I think pitching Fehmel would have made more sense. A terrible decision to go with the very bad decision the day before with regards Kwan. I think Casey is still trying to wrap his mind around the format. It is so different than the rest of the season. One more reason to have a conference tournament, in my opinion. It would give Casey an opportunity to practice with not much to lose.
