I think that the zone hurt Oregon State today. It bailed out LSU's pitchers, who did not have the arms, and it killed Oregon State's hitters, who know where the strike zone is and laid off garbage that wound up being called strikes. It eliminated two Beaver advantages. The umpire basically made the game an eighth grade baseball game. You never like to see officiating have such a big influence on outcome. It is disheartened to players even those in the winning side, maybe not in the moment but when they reflect given they become mature enough as competitors. Nothing wrong with winning or losing but this result should not make true competitors satisfied on either side. It is a shame really. It was really that bad.

One of the commenters in that Omaha World Herald article referenced his Facebook page where he posted a bunch of photos of not only bogus strikes on us, but several obvious strikes on LSU that weren't called (including one right before the 3-run jack).
