So what we really need to be debating is why the hell haven't we kicked the ducks out of the conference yet to get us back to an even 10... Or why not bring in another school like Boise State or BYU and make it 12? Because neither of those schools meet Pac 12 academic standards. Some conferences actually have them. And, we often play on Sundays here.

Don't be surprised if it isn't at 10 sooner than up to 12. With Cal's enormous debt, baseball on the chopping block a few years back, and with Esquer gone across the Bay, Cal's team will be closely watched the next couple years with a new coach. The admin seems to not hold baseball in high regard.

UofU is # 111, UofA is #124, ASU is #129, OSU & WSU tied @ #143....BYU is #68😕

Plus, no one wants all of the BYU series to start on Thursday to accommodate. (BYU does not play on Sundays.) There is an old thread before the full field was announced about how the world would basically end, if BYU wound up in the Corvallis Regional.

Gonzaga would be a good one for all sports, but that would make it 13 for sports like Basketball.

As long as BYU has serious research studies about creationism (https://byustudies.byu.edu/content/charles-darwin-and-problem-creation) and the prophecies of nephi and the 10 lost tribes of Israel (http://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=4508&context=byusq) it ain't never going to happen. Academics from USC, UCLA, Stanford, and Cal (and probably every other Pac 12 school) are not going to sit in the same room with that. Never. Going. To. Happen.

And, we often play on Sundays here. At various times Eastern Washington, Gonzaga, Idaho, Montana, Portland, Portland State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, St. Mary's, and UC Santa Barbara have been a part of the conference as baseball-only schools. Portland State was a part until they were kicked out after the 1998 season. The Vikings responded by dropping baseball. Eastern Washington dropped baseball as a member of the Pac-10 North after the 1990 season. Gonzaga and Portland were part of the Pac-10 North prior to their transition to the West Coast Conference. In fact, Portland twice won the Pac-10 North as a member (back when the Pac-10 North held a Divisional Tournament). Santa Clara won the AAWU in 1962 by beating Oregon State in a three-game-series in Santa Clara. 1962 Santa Clara wound up finishing second, losing the national championship to Michigan in 15 innings.
