Looks like LSU fans are about done licking their wounds and showing up here a bit again as their team takes the field today. The first comment I saw was basically, "Congratulations, it really sucks our starting pitcher went out." I think that's a common thought process, that everything fell apart when that happened. Even the coach alluded to it in his post-game presser.
While I agree that sucks very much, and I feel bad for the player and even the team, what makes me feel less sympathy is if I turn the tables and ask what would have happened if the same thing happened to us. What if Bryce went out with an injury after 2 innings?
I'll tell you what would happen: Eisert would pick him up, backed up by Max and others like Verburg, all with the lowest team ERA in the nation. We likely wouldn't hold them to 1 run and 2 hits, but certainly low enough to let our offense do its job. I would feel much less confident about going on to win the whole tournament, but I'm fairly certain we still win that game.
Sorry Tigers; Walker going out probably impacted the margin, but I don't think there's any question who the better team was on Monday, regardless of who pitched.
GO BEAVS!

We already had the #1 pitcher in the nation "injured" before Supers.
No sympathy here.

They might have had a point if Walker was swinging a bat and was able to hit Bryce. Otherwise, they have no point.

And... still would have not made a diff as he'd get (3) ABs... not enough to help them that day. Besides... I'd toss out the fact their starter was not as effective as the first reliever, and for longer. They need to look a little deeper... the claim that their BP rivaled ours is a complete joke. I did not waste my time looking up stats prior, but when they popped up on the screen is was very apparent not many would make out CWS roster.

The reaseons LSU lost 1) Terrible plate discipline 2) Poor defense 3) No bullpen strategy (espically being uncertain about Walker's forearm days before the game) 4) Terrible plate disciple 5) ran ourselves out of innings

Good luck today. I'm wishing your team well and if you win, I hope it takes 37 innings to do so.

I have no doubt LSU is far better than that debacle Mon. However I will say their Pitching sure didn't look like it should scare anyone. Mentally they sure went under and that was obvious. They do appear to have a couple of "head cases" which may be impacting the entire team. I would still pitch these guys with great care and would rather see one hell'va lot of Breaking Junk over Heat. I actually thought Fehmel was far better against Vandy just killing them with controlled Junk. He still worked over LSU and I thought his breaking stuff was not near as good.

I'm sure someone can make a dedicated thread if they feel like it. It surely pertains to OSU baseball!

On #5 there, is that Mike Bellotti speaking? My mind went right there. Might as well add: "I don't think the best team won on Monday"

I'm sure someone can make a dedicated thread if they feel like it. It surely pertains to OSU baseball! I'm rooting for FSU myself. It'd be cool if the end of the story is "OSU takes out the best the SEC has to offer."
