Over a period of less than a week and on the way to Omaha, we lose TWO starters...one for indulging in a recreational drug LEGAL in Corvallis and another for a years old transgression for which the punishment was meted out long ago.
You really couldn't make this stuff up, but here we are. Nevertheless, I've got a feeling that the core of this team is such a juggernaut that we'll prevail anyway. We'll see, but I'd bet that no other team in Omaha is as prepared to overcome these sorts of setbacks.

Doesn't matter if it's legal in Oregon, it's illegal to use when participating in college sports. This isn't some new development that the kids just found out about. Also, it sounds like Luke could play if he wanted to. Nobody is conspiring against us.

Not a chance in he11 he could have played by his or PCs choice.

I know what you're saying, and to an extent I agree. It could've probably torpedoed either of their futures at OSU, but I don't think OSU was in a position to publicly block him from pitching. There's nothing...no legal or NCAA or university policy.....that is preventing him from pitching this weekend.
Which raises an interesting question...does the fan base WANT Luke pitching this weekend, knowing the circus that would go along with it?

Have to agree with 1111 here....there was NO WAY that the upper administration was going to tolerate Heimlich's presence vs Vanderbilt. Similarly, my strong guess is that they hope that somehow he just disappears altogether from OSU sometime before next February. Very disappointing.

As always the squeaky wheel gets the oil. The Omaha poll was almost 80% last I looked in favor of hom playing. Oregonian poll changed to also favorable. It's not huge news any longer except to those who want to make it so. Sorry to say Luke's statements were in direct response of no support from anyone above PC. And... in my opinion partly to save PC from facing his bosses wrath. PC was gong to let him play. And your correct, no legal way to stop Luke, but no mistake about it pressure was applied in some form.

Hey...ease up on the pessimism there. Remember we DID beat that SEC juggernaut Vandy (which ESPN picked to win it all) easily and in two straight.
It ain't over till it's over.

Casey announced that C-Boy isn't with the team due to a "Violation of Team Rules"...

Whoa there. Play from the loser's bracket? Are we not running out the pitcher with the #2 ERA in Division I and the only undefeated starter? Our boys have this.

I certainly still woulda "thunk it" - the depth is perfect for a squad of this type. PC nailed it when he said it isn't a matter of having the best players...but instead having the RIGHT players. The lineup is full of such "right" guys. As far as "best players" .....hmmmm, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the 2017 Beavers defeat three (3) top 2 round MLB draft pitchers in recent weeks?

Yeah...i know..but we aren't 'trending up' at this point in time... Not trending"up" re: availability of Donahue or Heimlich, that's for certain...but over recent weeks - or since, players like Kwan, Jones, Fehmel, Harrison, Anderson, Gretler (more?) have been stepping up...and I'm confident that list could grow.

I would say that if there was ever a time for the Beavs to play from a point of adversity, it's right now. They've had the drive all year long. God knows they've got the talent, and then some. Casey's House is full. Somebody will step up. Our chances of wining this thing are as good right now as they were a week ago. That is all.

I am very disappointed by the pressure Dr. Ray's office put on Luke to not pitch. He has every right to play, and it is total BS for them to pressure him into this. Never thought I'd say this, but Ed Ray, you are way off base on this sir, way off base. You shot from the hip, and that is wrong.
