That didn't get drafted, we are going to have a really full cupboard - both in top end talent, and probably red-shirt frosh.

Tweedt is the only one that really surprised me. Elliot Cary was once very highly regarded, not drafted at all. I know I took some heat the other day for thinking Donahue would not be drafted, and he was not.
The roster next season will be loaded with all the incoming players plus hopefully Nobach.

Not surprised about either Donahue or Cary - Christian needs to return to his Pac-12 all conference form of a year ago, and Elliott will have had a chance to both recover fully from his surgery, and get full fall practice in.

Draft eligable players can still sign Free Agent deals, correct?
I'm not making predictions just trying to understand the "options" for the undrafted players. We are assuming and hoping they will be back but everything from Free Agents to transferring is a possibility.

surprised at the low number of drafted Beavers. Those in the 700+ range....uh..come on back fellas..assuming you have a year or two left...nothing to lose, lots to gain... Gretler especially could be a beast next yr. Locked in at 3B, with options as backup catcher and 1b. His "bonus" at present is minuscule.

Just because you're taken in the 40th round doesn't mean you are guaranteed nothing. I can't remember the rules specifically, but I think the maximum bonus for anyone after the 11th round is $200,000. There are other rules around that as well. It's still possible for a 7th rounder to get a $5000 bonus, and a 25th rounder to get $150,000. As I mentioned in another thread, TJ Friedl of Nevada was thought of as not draft eligible last year, until after the draft when some teams realized he WAS draft eligible. He got a $732,500 bonus from the Reds as a free agent.

OK, so you can actually give any player in rounds 11-40 any bonus you want, but if you give them over $125,000, the amount over 125K is subject to your bonus pool - that is the sum of the slot values assigned to your first 10 picks.
The example is: If your first 10 picks are slot valued at $8,000,000, and you sign all 10 of those picks for an aggregate of $7,500,000, you could conceivably sign one of your 11-40 round guys to a $625,000 bonus, or give 4 different guys a total of $250,000 each.
Sometimes, teams will take a flier on a HS guy who says he's going to college and offer him a big bonus in the later rounds to see if he'll bite.
I'm not sure how free agent bonuses work.

So totally depends on all the negotiations that are going on. I do not think FA $ count against any cap?? MLB has so many rules on drafts, trades, compensation, salaries, etc it truly takes a staff to handle it all and they still are not sure sometimes.

According to the linked article about Friedl, his free agent signing bonus was considered part of the draft pool - only a couple of teams had enough $$ to pay him to leave Nevada.

So it must be every bonus from round 11 on over $125k. Takes some planning to have $ where you want it.
