YES... in terms of my reply to his post I'm am right... "You're right" >>>>> it doesn't make any sense in a pure mathematical sense "technically 25 games over" >>>>> his team with a 29-29 record "but often used incorrectly" >>>> > by those talking games ahead vs games over .500 He asked for simplistic... may have been confusing to egotist who thinks he is always right about x's and o's and jimmy and joes, but tried to be short and tie it to his post. But, thx for the basics. LMAO Just. No. And, how did that $1.1 mil slot go? At #84, at max value which is unlikely do to how raw he is as a catcher, KJ will net depending on agent about $380k... nice 6 figures that means he will leave. But no where the mil+... that is "Just. No."

But no where the mil+... that is "Just. No." I never said he WOULD get $1.1 million. I said he'd get close to whatever slot he was picked at. The $1.1 was just a number I listed because BA had him ranked there. The defining argument was that he would NOT benefit from going back to OSU. Whether he gets a $300,000 bonus or a $666,000 bonus. I win the argument.

I win the argument. Maybe $$$ wise... which he'll take... but as a hitter and very definitely as a catcher he would. But, you can "win" you seem to need that very badly on an anonymous message board. You talk of it frequently hence maybe you have not experienced it much??? Feel better?

Ok. 2 things. OSU would have to lose 50 more games to get back to .500. Doesn't seem likely. They also would have to go 19 and 5 in their next 24 games to finish equal to what the record setting Golden State Warriors did last year during the regular season (73-9). Doesn't seem like the Beavers have enough regular season games for that to happen. I do understand if a team in any sport starts off 5 wins and 4 losses they are ONE game over .500. I also recognize Golden State ( again 73-9 in 2015-2016) did not win a championship last year.
I don't understand the question. If you go up to bat 6 times and get 3 hits you are batting.500. If you get in the ring 4 times, win two, and get knocked out twice you are probably going to get a championship fight. Well, at least that seems how it used to work. I can't even name the Heavyweight Champion of the World at this point.
But lets hope the Beavers give Bill Walton something else to say about the Conference of Champions.

I look at it this way. How many wins(games) do you have to take away for them to be at .500? 50. So they are 50 wins(games) over 500

Thanks, baseba1111, for pointing out that the way that literally every poster besides you explained it is the correct way. What would we do without your vastly superior knowledge???

I can't answer your question, though I once was very good at math. I once built a proof for the equation that the sum of odd integers results in perfect squares. That was fun, for a math geek.
My interest in this equation was a calculus prof at OSU that mentioned he was asked this in an interview. He said his answer was God. He didn't get the job.
He would also pause in class and say crazy thing like, "You know you have a problem when you stay up late at night to watch re-runs of The Rockford Files". So for the number of games over .500 that talking heads mention, I think the answer is God.
Go Beavs.
