Before the game began I got out my newest sign. I first went down near their dugout, got their attention, and held it up. Several players acknowledged it. I then walked over to the Vandy fan section behind the visitor dugout, said I had something I wanted to share with them, and held up the sign. At first I got scattered applause, then slowly the entire fan section stood up and applauded. I was amazed. Several women started to cry. A guy reached out and shook my hand. Several of them got out cell phones and took pictures. One woman said she was sending the pics to the players parents.
What did the sign say? "WE REMEMBER #41 DONNY EVERETT. RIP."

Vandy will always remember the way they were hosted at Goss, and you did a wonderful thing. We lost Scott Halbrook in tragic circumstances and those are things that unite people well beyond wins and losses. Again, wonderful.

He was a couple of years ahead of me in HS but even then was a class guy. I think he would have fit in well with these current beavs.

Last nite I stood above their dugout before the game began, and held up the sign. Four or five of them tipped their caps to me, and I did likewise. I think I had to wipe away a tear or two.
