Vandy HAS TO win, so they will start with small ball - and they feel they can ride Wright to the end by keeping the Beavers off the bases. If they can get a decent lead, they may start trying to go long ball. We will not have Jake or Luke, so it sounds like it is between Rass and Fehmel. That is not a sure thing due to Recent inconsistency and getting hammered with balls in the zone. We need to wear Wright out and get to their bullpen. Wright is a hard thrower, but apparently can command a couple of breaking balls. He can get up to 97mph, which I think most of our guys can handle. We had 4 strikeouts to their 9. Hopefully, we can get a lead and 7-8 innings out of our starter. Then finish with Eisert !

And Then is successful, running the bases requires higher baseball IQ than I can give them credit for. Maybe they can execute but their porches are designed for the long ball for a reason and attention span is not one, I think.

We need Heimlich out there! Period! The "distraction" will still be there either way, might as well pitch and not let the team down.

If it's Rasmussen, he won't go 7-8. Too early in the comeback. I see us trying to get 5-6 out of our starter and then going Johnny Wholestaff to finish.

If we can get 6 quality innings out of either, I think we're in good shape. I'd love to score 4+ on Wright early in the game and really put the pressure on them...

The one thing that beavers have done this year is make the other team blink. Tomorrow Vandy is going to Blink several times

Do what we have done all year. Figure out a way to win. I don't know what that will look like. Offense comes alive again and scores a couple of innings with crooked #'s? Low scoring defensive and pitching gem? Grind it out small ball? Heck, score the winning run in walk off fashion after loading the bases and getting back-to-back walks? I don't know HOW this team will find its way to win. I just can't wait to watch it do it. Go Beavs!!!

Vandy does not like the Breaking Ball. They are also very aggressive and arrogant. Fehmel just might make their life miserable again IF he can keep the Ball down. Fehmel's FB will get thumped. Fehmel for 4 to 6 Innings, Rass for 2 or three, or the Left Handers throwing Junk to finish up. I do think Luke would work over Vandy and maybe will. Go Beav's, Get One MORE!

Set the tone early... Hopefully, it will be a fun, non stressful Ball game for OSU. I don't want this to go to Sunday. Besides the 97mph fastball from Wright, if I was looking at the right numbers, he was only 5-5 and an e.r.a. about the same as the guy who pitched yesterday. Could be mis-leading due to a lack of run support. But, our plate discipline and bats looked pretty good last night. I expect Anderson and others to add to the attack tonight.

Prob the #1 pick... 113 k's in 96 IP/30 more in 10 less innings than last nights guy... .210 oba... 95+ and good control of two breaking balls... never faced a guy who brings it at 90-95 consistently... best pitcher we've seen. Well need a solid outing off the mound.

We've faced several power pitchers and our plate discipline has been to our benefit. All said, they have to win, and that puts the onus on them.

I say, use the same strategy used in the second Civil War game. Whole staff against the ace? Maybe Verberg can get an even bigger strikeout to end it.

So was not Apel a stud college pitcher? I guess what I mean is not matter where he was picked or what Apel did in MLB has little relevance to Kyle Wright being the projected #1 and also a damn fine college pitcher. Now if I was saying Kyle Wright will have a great MLB career, well then I agree with prognostications. After college it's a entirely new game for pitchers.
