BABY GIRL (our first child)! I hit the golf ball filled with the colored powder (pink or blue). I found out hours after I read this whole sad (for the victim and Luke) story. Truth be told, I am not sure if I want Luke on the team anymore or not but one thing is for sure: I pray that the victim has a long, happy and successful life and I wish the SAME for Luke. This brings me to my thoughts though: Is the justice system meant to punish, or to rehabilitate? Do we want justice, or do we want vengeance? Why should he try to be productive in society if all he will amount to is a "15 year old child molester"? If you or I hates how our country's legal system is ran in regards to the way they barely provide rehabilitation or counseling, wouldn't you want to support convicts and offenders actually getting treatment and going through intensive programs and counseling so that they can one day be productive members of society again? This is similar to making fun of a fat person at the gym when those are the ones we should be encouraging/rooting for. Seems like Luke is using baseball as one of those rehab medians to get through that tough time and move on. If we want to fight for true change and more growth from offenders and their past, then we can't get mad when they actually take the right steps to move on and grow from it...or can we? Now, if more stories keep coming out and this ends up not being something that happened when he was a minor, then I my thoughts will be clearer on the issue at hand. I bring this up because I personally feel conflicted in this situation with whats come out so far. Thoughts?

Congrats!! You are about to become the smartest man in the world in a young lady's eyes. From my experience, that will only last for about 13 years however😉 It will take roughly another 13 years before your intelligence slowly returns.
Again, congratulations Go Beavs!

If he is of faith, accept whatever peace he has made with his maker. Repudiate anyone seeking vigilante justice.

I agree with much of what you wrote, but sometimes, there is no justice without extra-judicial, societal justice. I am no vigilante, but I believe that supporting or standing idly by in the midst of evil makes you complicit after the fact. The evil that we must fear most is the indifference of good men.

No, "Extra-judicial, societal justice" is pretty much the definition of vigilantism. If you stand by and do nothing while you are present during the act, that makes you complicit; if you go about beating the drums for blood years after the case has been adjudicated, that makes you something else entirely. The indifference of a few good men is an evil quickly overshadowed by the lynch mob whipped up by the righteously indignant.
