Let's bubble wrap this guy and keep him healthy so the beavs can get back in the tourney. For the first time ever, the beavs have football baseball and basketball aligned in 2018 for postseason aspirations. Just maybe.

For the first time ever, the beavs have football baseball and basketball aligned in 2018 for postseason aspirations. Just maybe. In 1962-1963, Oregon State football went 9-2 and won the Liberty Bowl. Oregon State basketball went to the Final Four. Oregon State baseball went to the District 8 final against USC and was within a run of going to the College World Series. USC went on to win its fourth national championship in baseball. If you count across 1962, Oregon State basketball went to the Elite Eight; Oregon State baseball played in the District 8 final against Santa Clara (who finished second); and Oregon State football won the Liberty Bowl. If you count the NIT, in 2004-2005, Oregon State football won the Insight Bowl, Oregon State basketball made the NIT, and Oregon State baseball went to the College World Series. If you count the CBI, in 2013-2014, Oregon State football won the Hawai'i Bowl, Oregon State basketball made the CBI, and Oregon State baseball was rated #1 overall before losing the Corvallis Regional. Across 2012, Oregon State basketball went to the semifinals of the CBI, Oregon State baseball played in the Baton Rouge Regional, and Oregon State football played in the Alamo Bowl. 2008-2009, Oregon State football won the Sun Bowl, Oregon State basketball won the CBI, and Oregon State baseball played in the Fort Worth Regional.

Sorry.... the NIT counts.... MAYBE, Kinda sorta, but... the CBI? No way... Being the #101 best team in the nation (if you WIN the CBI) does not count as being in the playoffs...

Sorry.... the NIT counts.... MAYBE, Kinda sorta, but... the CBI? No way... Being the #101 best team in the nation (if you WIN the CBI) does not count as being in the playoffs... When Oregon State won the CBI in 2009, the NCAA Tournament was still at 65 teams, so, using your numbers, the Beavers would have been the 98th best team in the country out of 330 Division 1 basketball teams. That would roughly be the equivalent of finishing 35th in FBS. What is ironic is that Oregon State lost the play-in game in the 2005 NIT, when the NIT had 40 teams. And 2004-2005 Oregon State had the worst RPI of the eight play-in losers. Thus, the Beavers finished 105th out of 330 Division 1 basketball teams. That would roughly be the equivalent of finishing 37th in FBS. With 80 bowl slots, just playing in the CBI is arguably more prestigious than some bowls.

In 1962-1963, Oregon State finished 17th in football, 4th in basketball, and 10th in baseball. This was probably Oregon State's pinnacle of success across the three primary sports. Extending back to the beginning of 1962, Oregon State finished in the top 20 in basketball (Elite 8), baseball (Regional), and football (Liberty Bowl victory) in 1962 and basketball (Final Four) and baseball (Regional) in 1963.
