Vandy's RPI is lower, but really, who is going to beat us twice in our own house? Not going to happen. Clemson did not really deserve to host, so the matchup is really between two two-seeds. Clemson entered the ACC Tournament, having lost three straight conference series and four-of-five conference series. The Tigers then went two-and-out in the ACC Tournament. Vanderbilt lost the play-in game to the SEC Tournament to South Carolina, who did not make the field. I think that Vandy presents more problems for Oregon State's offense than Clemson. D1Baseball concurs in this assessment. Plus, Clemson is in the Eastern time zone, three hours ahead, whereas Vandy is in the Central time zone, only two hours ahead. My gut is to pull for Clemson. Having said that, though, after that hatchet-job Nashville Super Regional in 2011, it would be nice to have Vandy come to Corvallis and just rain unholy hell-fire upon the Commodores.

Bring on either team! If weather report holds, a little of the wet stuff probably is in our favor as well.

I'd rather have Clemson in a 3 game series. Kyle Wright (vandy) is going to be a top 3 pick in the draft - would rather not face him, even if I'm confident in our guys. Vandy's #2 guy has had a real nice year as well. 10-3, 2.36 ERA.
Both teams are roughly .500 on the road (and don't stray from home too far or too often), so I like that a lot. Clemson hasn't fared too well vs Lefties either, so we will unleash Heimlich in game 1 and put the pressure on from there.
Either way, I like that it's been a taxing weekend for both teams, then they have to travel cross country. Would be great if we started on Friday, but I have a feeling we'll get bumped to Saturday.

Bring on either team! If weather report holds, a little of the wet stuff probably is in our favor as well. Depends upon on how wet. If there are delays, that tends to hurt the better pitching team and help the better hitting team. Plus, you can look at the weather today, both teams know how to play in the rain. If there is going to be rain, I hope for that cold Oregon rain.

I am more worried about Vandy than Clemson. I would prefer Clemson but it isn't going to be an easy out no matter who comes across country. The Beavers will have to be at their best to advance. No team that gets to a super regional is a fluke.

Its Vanderbilt whether you like it or not. What a better way for the revenge season tour to continue, than to get them back for 2011?
