Another example that there are too many teams let into the post season.😎

Another example that there are too many teams let into the post season.😎 Davidson is (was before the regional) a very good team with a VERY good coach. They'd be in my top 48.

Another example that there are too many teams let into the post season.😎 Davidson won the Atlantic 10 and was an automatic qualifier. D1Baseball pegged Texas A&M as the last team in. If Texas A&M wins one of two against Houston, Texas A&M would host Davidson in a Super Regional. If you go down to 48, the Aggies do not get in. Oregon State would also not have received a bid in 2007. After 2007, I am not going to ever bad mouth 64 teams. It seems like a great number to me!

I like the format. Makes it interesting, just like March Madness. Gives the "lil guy" (if you will) or a team that's pretty good that get's hot a chance. OSU 2007, Stony Brook, Fresno State! I like it.

I like it. The game of baseball gives the little guy a chance more than the format. We've actually had lower seeds win the Championship in baseball. Fresno State was a 4 seed in their regional, which equates to a 13-16 seed in the basketball tourney. OSU was a 3 seed in their regional in 2007, which equates to a 9-12 seed in basketball. What's the lowest seed to ever win a basketball championship?

What's the lowest seed to ever win a basketball championship? Even though we were a #3 seed, it is widely accepted that we were the last team into the tournament. No 64 teams, no OSU in the tourney to become National Champs. Fresno the next year is another great example. It's why I cannot understand the opinion that 48 teams would be better. Now if you want to talk the State of Oregon 6 classifications for athletics, I'm all for reduction. But that is a whole other thread/topic.

Yep, I don't blame the coach for sending him home either - Wallace to Barney to Canham!

You know what's funny? The supposedly best opposition is KO'ing themselves! Look at our Regional. Nebraska was Big Ten champ and seeded #2. The Big Ten is a big boy conference. So what happens? They turned into wood vs the termites that were Holy Cross and Yale of all teams! We never even saw the Huskers and had as easy a path to the Supers as possible.
In the regular season, towards the end we saw Louisville go into a tailspin. Down goes #2. Into the slot comes our baseball "rival", North Carolina. Of course we'll face them for the CWS title, right? Right? Buh-bye Tarheels. Go figure!
Who's next on our schedule? The 1962 Mets? LOL!

What's the lowest seed to ever win a basketball championship? Villanova won the national championship in basketball as an eight-seed in 1985. They would have been a two-seed in the NCAA baseball tournament. Back in 1985, though, the baseball tournament only involved 38 teams and was not seeded. The baseball tournament was first seeded in 1988. In that format, Villanova would have been a four-seed.

I like this quote, "Davidson deserved the win. UNC saved me $2000 not having to go to Omaha. Cancelling reservations in the morning. I'm just sick! Goodnight friends." More rooms for Beaver fans. I imagine NC had a pretty good block of rooms on hold.

Anyone can beat anyone on any given day. #3 Florida, #4 LSU, and #7 Louisville are still alive and well. So are Arkansas, Florida State, Kentucky, Long Beach State, Southern Miss, TCU, Texas A&M, and Wake Forest. Davidson and Sam Houston State are through to the supers, but each will probably playing on the road in the supers. Clemson or Vanderbilt will be a big leap in competition from Holy Cross and Yale.

Still, the trend of facing the lesser opponent continues as Vandy beat Clemson in a regional that Clemson was the host and thus top seed. Hey, if the waters want to part and hand us a trophy, I'll take it! OSU baseball in the postseason has a crazy past. When we won the 1st national title, we were killers in the regular season and barely beat UNC in the finale with games prior to that being tough. The 2nd title came with us just getting into the playoffs by the skin of our teeth and we cleaned clock completely as if we were the top seed. Then came the year we were the top seed and got eliminated quickly. Last year by all rights we should have been in the postseason and got skipped over. This year we're on a roll and now the path gets smoother the farther we go...so far!
I'll call this edition of Beaver baseball the Lexus Team, since they are into the relentless pursuit of perfection. As is said in football, more games are lost than won. OSU does as little as possible to beat themselves. That's quite a high bar in college baseball given the difference between it and the pro game. It's fun watching the other team implode while ours is on cruise control!
