Long time lurker here, but I had to create an account because of something I saw during last night's game. At one point, the camera zoomed in on Adley Rutschman and I could see that he is wearing something on the finger tips of his throwing hand. Do any of you know anything about this? They don't seem to be injury related. Any ideas?

I did not see the picture you are referring to. Most catchers will paint their fingernails so that the sign to the ptcher can be easier to see. Is that perhaps what you noticed?

Regarding Rutschman, I'm completely impressed on his body language and his support and encouragement he gives the pitchers. I don't know much about the technical stuff of catching, but it appears emotionally he is a 10+.

About a Year ago I was visiting with a few Local Coaches and talking about the Beav's. One said that Gen-yer was the best High School player he had ever seen. Great kid with amazing skills. A couple agreed that Addley might be the best EVER Baseball Player to come out of Oregon. At that time they were saying the kid had a amazing Arm, throwing 95+ with real potential as a Pitcher. All agreed he was potentially the best Power Hitter OSU has ever seen. I don't think we have seen that this year, but he sure is starting to hit much better. It seems to me he has more power from the Right Side. Anyway we may have the Real Power Guy next year. Go Beav's

But, those local coaches must be young or highly localized. Addley in HS and so far at this level doesn't touch some of the State's all-time great players... I can easily come up with 2 dozen from the late 70s on. Just take a Matt Smith of GP... full ride to Furd in baseball and football... I believe the 16th overall pick by KC... still good enough after baseball went no where due to injury to star as a LB for the ucks. The kid was incredible on the mound and at the plate. Side note... one of the weirdest/ biggest joke of an all-state coaches meetings ever. He barely got to share POY honors because there was a group wanting Checketts to be the guy. Good pitcher, but no where near the player of Smith.

Definitely saw a different color on the tips of his fingers. Could've been the nails, but to me it looked more like something that fits over the finger. But that wouldn't make much sense. I'll look more carefully. Rutschman is one of my favs on this fantastic team. Always so positive and quick to applaud the pitcher! And he's caught just about every game! Incredible! Plus, he has been showing some power! Very talented!

If Adley surpasses Johnny Pesky, Mickey Lolich, Dale Murphy, Jacoby Ellsbury and Darwin Barney, OSU Is in for a helluva ride the next couple of years.
