This is a great read on the cost of baseball in the SEC. It is kind of long, but an interesting read. The article claims that there are 4 Teams (I believe) that actually turn a profit. I wish someone would do the research and do this on the PAC-12. It would be interesting to see if the Beavers are close.... LinkThis article was tweeted by Kendall Rodgers yesterday. I just happened to see it. I know this board had a discussion about a month ago on this topic, but this is a recent article written. Go BEAVS!

OSU would need to have a stadium nearing 10,000 in seating, and fill those seats, along with the luxury boxes and suites. My understanding is that the core area around home plate and the dugouts is constructed to allow for a 2nd deck, and we can expand our outfield seating - but it would be tough to squeeze over 5000-6000 into that space. Still, the NC trophies and the exposure for the school are invaluable. Hard to put a dollar figure on the attention 49-4 gets, but perhaps the endowment fund feels the impact

But, baseball had brought a lot of attention our way in the "quiet season". For most of the 299 D1 programs baseball is a traditional after thought. As stated in an earlier post almost all lose $. Most teams' ticket, concession, parking, and gear (if allotted to the sport) sales font cover coach's salaries. Take into account schollies, overhead/expenses, travel it is a big loser for most. Luckily for OSU private funding and recognition from successes have countered a lot of the negative impact. Baseba11 will never be the "black".
