Jake Thompson is the sturdy horse that we have ridden all season long. So he had one bad outing? Who cares? Yeskie says he is ready to go, and I expect he will be. Moving Luke to #2 makes perfectly good sense to me.

Not surprised. Somebody posted in an earlier thread that Nebraska has a decent number of regular lefty batters, while Holy Cross does not, so it makes sense to pitch Thompson Friday. Casey has the luxury to play the matchups and have 100% confidence in either guy.

One could argue that Jake is the Best Pitcher on the team. When this guy is on, keeping the ball down he can be dang near impossible to hit. His Slider is a killer. My feeling about the whole weekend is the Staff will do it's job. The question will be at the Plate. We need to hit far better.... just saying.

Oh, and our #3 guy has thrown a perfect game and would be a Friday night guy on almost any team in the nation... This pitching staff is unreal. It's not a #1, #2, #3 rotation... it's 1a, 2a, 3a. |

Holy Cross Coach to his team: "Guys, I have good news and bad news. We aren't going to face the #1 era pitcher in the nation, and that is the good news. The bad news, we are going to face the #1 winningest pitcher in the nation"
I expect Holy Cross to come out attacking, but with the #1 player at every position defensively, it should be a good game (for us).
