I'd hate to be an ACU fan after that. I thought they had the strikeout in the 9th.

This "crowd" is funny... no matter how bad we play, how poor the competition the W is "special". Lol Kinda demeans what "special" really is!?? The season has been special so far, but this win versus this opponent was far from special. Just a fortunate W against a far inferior team. Baseball is a funny game. On any given night a pitcher can turn into a no hit machine regardless of the squad that he's on and tonight we saw a Abilene Christian pitcher who had the Beavers up against the wall pitching the game of his life. Then something fluky happened and their bull pen couldn't hold the game for them. Why can't you just enjoy the moment like the rest of us and take the win instead of insulting both squads by saying that one Squad didn't deserve to be out on that field with us with a chance to beat us and we didn't deserve the win because of it. I'm certainly glad that you never coached any of my children because while your knowledge of the game maybe adequate, your knowledge of player psychology, fan psychology and fun psychology is really in need of a lot more developmental league time. I'm glad I didn't coach them ether... people that over exaggerate and flat out make up s%#te from others words typically are the same as parents. Never had an issue with a student or a player but parents can be... well like you just portrayed yourself! 😉

The season has been special so far, but this win versus this opponent was far from special. Just a fortunate W against a far inferior team. It seems everyone struggles occasionally against poor competition. Last year, allowing that type of struggle to deteriorate into losses that had more to do with the Beavs getting left out of the tourney than Meggs or any committee did. The only good thing to be taken from a game like this is that on a night when OSU practically didn't even show up, they still figured out how to win. We could argue that this is a throwaway series that means nothing. It's feasible that unless we tied or lost the series, it would have no bearing on seeding. It IS understandable over the grind of conference play and an intense season for a team to let up and maybe get bit by someone that doesn't belong on the field with you. However, none of those excuses justify playing this way again in this series. Ideally, you are rolling on the verge of tourney time. I would love for the Beavs to be playing a stronger opponent for just 3 games, where obtaining the series win actually prepares them for the NCAAs, and far tougher competition. But, we did win, AGAIN, something that we've done a lot of this year. I'm not stoked about the lack of execution and lax play tonight, but this team has put together an unusual regular season, and we all should be able to celebrate that, no matter how ugly it is or how weak the competition. Baseball, I feel like your major concern is that we raise our play to a consistently strong level as we pursue Omaha in the playoffs. There is no question in my mind that we could get ambushed ala Irvine the last time we were the #1 seed. When you come out flat against truly good teams, it can get ugly fast. We will have to play our best ball to advance to Omaha - certainly if we are to win it all. I won't lie either, as much as I know that falling short in the tourney won't erase this cool season that we've had, I will be very disappointed if we aren't hoisting that trophy next month!

I'm actually not concerned... my post had zero to do with the team or how they played... it happens. Whatever happens in the post season doesn't change how great the season has gone. Just as the regular season won't insure post season success. I made a simple, and to me funny, observation about posts and how "special" is so enthusiastically tossed about. After reading a certain response I'd use "special" in a completely different context! Lol

I'd agree with "awesome" that we pulled out the W! 😊

I'd hate to be an ACU fan after that. I thought they had the strikeout in the 9th. Yeah, that was very close and something he had called starting about the 5th inning. They also got jobbed out of a run early on the wild pitch that Rutsch got to and tossed to Jake. Jake missed the tag the first time. Runner reached across and touched the plate and Jake tagged him (again!)

As bad as their record is ACU has only been shut out 1 other time this season besides the first game against OSU. They have also scored 5 or more runs in 27 of their games

Eisert was a positive. Just to point out the baseball recruiting oddities, Eisert had signed to attend Linn Benton CC. He was a late June addition to the Beaver class. When I see wet blankets being thrown on this unusual victory in Game 2, Eisert's performance is the first thing that springs to mind. Having a still-young lefty strikeout artist on a college pitching staff is a very good thing.

Just a couple of observations. JT was getting hammered almost from the get-go. Those guy were making solid contact early and often. I can remember the last time the Beav's were hitting the Ball consistently solid like AC. Jake was missing something. And the Elephant in the Room is still the lack of making contact with Runners on. One sequence we had our 3 Best Hitter all Strike out (one watching). We simply need better Hitting to get to Omaha and chance to win it all. On the positive side Larnach seems to be really coming on and drilling the ball. Go Beav's........Hit!

It was definitely an exciting finish. At the same time, it has been years since I have seen Casey that agitated at his team. There were definitely some sore rears from Casey gnawings. A couple of guys might have been practicing sac bunts until midnight.
KJ's ankle is definitely a major problem.

I have a lot of concerns. Its usually the team that has the greatest momentum that succeeds, ie. our 2007 team. They were red hot going into the tournament. We are winning and that is good, but I don't feel we have the momentum we had earlier. These games serve as a warmup and it appears that we are winning these games because of ACU's pitchers wildness. We are not going to receive 8 walks a game. These next two games our hitters need to make a statement and get their confidence. How we win these next two games is critical. Our hitters need to step up and we need to play with intensity. Also concerned with the status of Kwan and CJ.

My take aways from the game, -Larnach isn't an outfielder, reminded me when Parker Berberet was in right for a game years ago. Also, when has Larnach got a base hit to right field? He does an amazing job going the other way, such as the home run. But whenever it looks like he's trying to pull the ball, he whiffs or rolls into a ground out or worse a double play. Is he trying to go yard when a single is good enough? No need to play hero.
-I think Atwood should roam in left field from here on out. Donahue looks slow reacting to balls hit, and his bat doesn't seem that much better than Atwood's.
-Mendazona, if you're going to be a middle infielder, gotta catch those hot potatoes from Adley.
-Thompson will be alright. Likely pressing due to a weaker defense behind him, trying to do everything himself.
The line up was like that of a big league team who had already clinched the division and just playing out the rest of the season, draw out of a hat. I think coach Casey wanted to see who can do what where. Best part was seeing KJ and Kwan get at bats. And champions win these kind of games.
