Pitch is up, batter turned away, hit very close to torso - that is a bad call by the ump; runner should have gotten 1st. On the other hand, looks like the coach's rant and toss got his team fired up - there was some strategy to that @$!#~@!

That should be been a HBP. Compare that to what happened in the civil war when the duck player took a step towards the plate during the pitchers wind up, then kept his elbow over the plate as the pitch came... The Maryland player at least tried to turn away and wasn't crowding the plate.

HBP. Normal batting action. Four seamer riding up and in. Ball was in batters box. Batter had no chance. Coach did get his licks in.
