And this is how rumors get started.
Q: Is Oregon State your destination job?
A. I would have you ten years ago that I was never leaving George Fox ... never say never. I never saw this job coming either ...
So he's saying there's a chance . . .
(Actually, he's saying what his agent told him to say.)

In women's basketball, there seems to be a lot more stability in coaching at the top ranks. Coach Rueck has caught lightning in a bottle here at Oregon State, and the athletic department knows that they have to do what they have to do to keep him around. IMO this next two year's recruiting classes are top 10, which means to me that at least through through the 2021-2022 season we have Elite 8/Final 4 potential (next year maybe not, but who knows). So I don't know that he is going to want to go anywhere else for a while.

I liked the interview with Coach R. Lots of coach speak, but for fans who know the program there was some encouraging news sprinkled here and there. The idea that Coach mentions several players in the program who have been "waiting their turn" is important - at least to me. Taylor Kalmer perhaps most noticeably. She is an offensive talent squeezed into a body that doesn't lend itself to the length/stretch defense Rueck employs. Kat Tudor is another "mystery" athlete in that she kills the Wing 3, but she seems weak in the rest of her game. Maddie W. (who I am higher on than most fans) doesn't seem to be a 2017-18 starter - but I think we will have to wait until October to judge that one accurately.
Coach R did not say the season ticket renewal zap word: "rebuild year" - but he danced around it so much he may as well have.... At any rate, I enjoyed the interview and I'm glad 2ndGenBeaver posted it......

One final thing. If anyone learns the particulars of the "big" preseason games Rueck spoke about - - please post....I'm already making travel plans for next season....

The Beavs are reportedly hosting a likely Top-5 team (and a frequent Final Four participant during the past decade) in mid-November and will take on a probable Top-10 team on the east coast in late November. In addition, they may have one or two quality non-conference opponents on December 1-2 for their two games of the Maui tourney.
My guess is that the coaching staff can't officially announce the dates/opponents as contracts may continue to be worked on to solidify the commitments. If I recall correctly, the coaching staff and program announced the official '16-'17 schedule for the team in the fall, so I don't know how much we will be able to read in print until late summer or early fall.
If anyone sees any of the OSU women's basketball coaching staff at a function(s) during the next three months, please ask them specifically to see if they are at liberty to confirm the highly-ranked opponent that Gill will supposedly host in November.

I hope its not Baylor. Their coach is garbage.

Huh? How dare you insult that fine woman! You're confusing her with that pus bucket Auriemma, I think.

It better not be Baylor, and if it is, it sure as h*** better not be a home-and-home. Our girls should never have to set foot anywhere near that campus.

My bet is Tennessee is one of the games - the Evina Westbrook Homecoming.

I was thinking it was a tentative home and home set when we played at UT two years ago?

Maybe in Westbrooks Jr year. Makes more sense for a Duke... NCSt... SC... and next year a Maryland (who's not going to accept I'm thinking!).

SC... and next year a Maryland (who's not going to accept I'm thinking!). Because they are willing to make the trip? Why travel to Oregon when you get the same RPI bonus for playing someone in the next county? Tennessee seems to be willing to schedule strong. I think Notre Dame is the same way, and UConn has to be because their conference stinks. But a lot of coaches want to pad their records early - maybe to attract fans, maybe because they aren't confident in their players. SR seems to want to have at least one big game in Gill every pre-season - which I think is awesome. Last season we really didn't have a marquee non-conference game, which fed the impression that this team wasn't all that good.
