Liquid diet for the dreaded colonoscopy prep all day Sunday.
Liquid--Jose and beer good to go. Liquid--See through. Jose and beer still good. Liquid--NO ALCOHOL. #$^&^%%^&%@#
Juice, water, chicken broth, Gatorade starting at midnight tonight. Speed work down the hall starts at around 6 Sunday afternoon.
Good news is I am leading off Monday morning. Bad news is I am breaking in a new guy. Old guy retired. First one demonstrated he was a keeper. First of all, no nurse or orderly wheeling me in. He did it himself and introduced me. What sealed the deal was picture time. Showed me every thing in living color and went over it. The last picture was the clincher. It was black with a bright circle in the middle. Told me that he turned the camera around on the way out and that was the view if I had my head up it. laughed all the way home.

Good luck Sage. I like the lead off times. My next one is about a month away. That will be my 5.5 or 6.5 I think. Worst was a back to back. 2 days and nothing to eat. My Crohn's keeps me off the Kaiser assembly line for the most part. But I'm also with a new GI doc too.

Tigard - you have Crohn's? I'm 53 and got diagnosed in 1977. Remicaid allows me to have some semi-normal days.

Had bowel resection about 1.5 years ago. Much better now. I'm trying to stay off the biologics. Mostly because of cost. My new GI doc was strongly hinting at getting back on a immune suppresent. Probably after he reads my colonoscopy. So you were diagnosed when you were very young. Wow. That must have been hard. The biologics haven't been around very long

Talk to your doctor. It usually starts as a routine about age 50. It's something that can literally save your life. Had a friend catch it early well over a decade ago. Had a miserable six months but he is alive, kicking, and clean. Worst part is the cleansing. Next is just being hungry for a day and a half. Procedure is a piece of cake. No after effects. First meal afterwards is whatever you can get your hands on first.
Just get it done when your doctor suggests it.

We need to visit and compare notes sometime this fall before a football game. But yea, I had some brutal years. My freshman year of college I had my first bowel resection in February. Three weeks or so later I was at 85 lbs. I was having a lot of trouble gaining weight back. At the end of June I was at 110. During July, I ate a quart of Umpqua ice cream every evening. 30 days later, I weighed 140. The gain was all fat but with just a little working out it moved to my shoulders, chest, back, etc. Being 19 is a good thing.

Good luck to you all. And, Sage.....I thought you were a Scotch drinker..? Wife and I are fortunate. We had our colonoscipies done at age 55 (four years ago). We don't have to do it again until we're 65. Almost exactly a month ago, I had an umbilical hernia repaired. It was pretty bad (incarcerated), so they cut a six inch gash in me. Nineteen staples! My bellybutton is gone, so my career as a tummy model is over......Sadly.

I might recognize a good anejo though next time. Go Beavs! Don't worry. Just do the procedure. What ag87 & I are talking about is Crohns. What 99% of the colonoscopies are looking for is Colon cancer. Which is first seen in polyps in your colon. Usually they will clip them & send em off to be tested. Crohns is an immune system disorder where your body attacks your gut creating inflamation. It can be localized which is called Ulcerative Colitis or widespread which is Crohns. The inflamation creates calusses for want of a better word. Over time this narrows your gut. And other issues. Which leads to bowel resection. So the colonoscopies are for 2 different reasons. But the colon cancer is a horrible disease and it is totally worth getting checked. It's easy. My first one I was semi awake and was chit chatting w/the doc. Until he was at the turn around point and he gave the high sign to the anethselogist and i woke up in recovery

And guys, don't forget to have your PSA (prostate specific antigen) checked if you are over 50 or over 40 with prostate cancer in your family. It's a simple blood test and very likely saved me a whole lot of grief. Prostate cancer at age 50 is nothing to mess around with.
That's my PSA on PSA; now back to the game!
