- thank you Max... wish we had you for another 6 years. - you really take for granted how fundamentally sound we are. We make the easy plays, we make the routine throws, we get the bunts down, Grenier makes 2-3 difficult plays look simple every weekend. The Silver and Black team across from us last night? Not so much. The difference in the series has been huge and that wasn't even our cleanest game yesterday by any means. - Getting a little worried about Mulholland. They squared him up a few times and he's missing his spots. Really feeling like he's hit the wall. Hope I'm wrong. - as competitive as PC is, I have a feeling there's no team hangover today because you know he wants to sweep those clowns.

Max has been amazing through his time at OSU. His back has been the one, big limiting factor.
As far as the D goes, there isn't a slouch on the field. Grenier and Madrigal are so special, though, that the other players look normal. Add in the positioning by the coaches, and this is really a tough team to hit against. Bailey must go through every at-bat an opposing player has made since pee wee ball for his outfield positioning.

The soundness of the defense includes so much, especially compared to &ucks. Grenier and Madrigal are obvious strong points. But compare also the outfield play.
Kwan always takes great routes; Anderson is so good it really is taken for granted. Compare his decision on (not) attempting a miracle catch on short fly to that made by the poor fellow for tsdtr.
Coaching, ability and baseball smarts so far ahead for Beavs compared to &ucks.
Also note the difference in reaction (emotional) by our veteran Max, vs. their veteran Peterson, when getting squeezed by balls & strike calls from the ump. Max coolly looks to future (get him next pitch), while the &uck pitcher pouts, mutters and looks like he might cry. And that's during his most important National 'try out' of the season (because he ain't gonna have a postseason!)

Scouts saw a better pitcher in Rasmussen to say the least. Jake is not able to hit the low strike zone and locate his pitches right now, hopefully just a phase, besides the umps strike zone didn't exist below mid thigh for anyone. Cost the ducks pitcher big time.

I observed that the ducks have quit on Horton. sloppy uninterested defensive effort. very little intensity at the plate. mentally they are not in the game. sure sign that's is time for George to fly south. George, how came we miss you if you won't go away !

But, on the upside, their grounds crew really hustles. Sprints out to replace the infield practice bases and sprints back. Looks like a Benny Hill show!
