After the game tonight (5/9, 2-5, 2B, HR) the slash line is 330/425/648. He's top ten in the National League in those categories. It's the nearly the middle of May . . . he may be having a break-out, break-through season.

If he can do it against the lefties, he`s seriously Wally Pipp`d one of the Mets original starting 3 in the outfield. Hard to figure the leadoff spot for him, but can't argue with their record since they put him there.

I was about 7 seconds from home to first (or so my coach claimed), but the last half of one season he had me hitting leadoff because he needed someone who could get on base consistently - with me the stolen base was not just an afterthought, it was an unknown. I would get a two step lead off first and he would yell at me to take a step back
