We came out on the biggest stage of the season tight as the skin on a funeral drum. Nothing would fall, pressure wasn't handled well and there was a remarkable lapse in the enforcement of the hand check rule. I watched both WSU games last year so I didn't rule out a comeback, but I didn't really expect it against Tennessee. Had we handled the first quarter pressure better (both the pressure we put on ourselves and that applied by Tennessee) this would have been a different game. Glad it came at this time as it will prepare us better for conference. Disappointed in the start, but not in the game overall. Go Beavs!

I'll count myself disappointed in the game as a whole. We were supposedly the #7 team in the country, with a deeper team, international playing experience, great recruiting class, and on our home court.
We had two players take 2/3 of our shots, we lost our composure on several occasions and should have been T'd on one, could not handle pressure (hand check NOT bring called! Really?l), didn't play as a team for the entire first half.
There are a lot of lessons there, none of which portray this team ready to call itself elite. If pressure does this to them, they better learn quickly as defending Pac12 champs is much tougher than getting there.

I admire the fight they gave to get back in to the game. I think we all knew the ladies were not going to go undefeated this season, and losing to Tennessee by three is nothing to be ashamed about. I am glad this game came early and I sincerely hope there will be gains by this loss like learning to handle the pressure, and--not wanting to sound like a broken record--developing a consistent mid-range jump shot. Lastly, thank you Beaver fans for showing up and being loud. Hope to see you all at the Civil War game on January 8th.

...and there was a remarkable lapse in the enforcement of the hand check rule. You were not the only one to notice. I'm no expert, but apparently the woman sitting behind me was. She was explaining the rule to her daughter and it seemed like she was saying, "and that's a foul" at least twice during every one of our possessions. Once I started watching for it I realized how much it disrupted the flow of our offense. No doubt TN played great D, but they were all over us; our inability to handle the press effectively didn't help.

I didn't start watching the game until the first quarter was almost over. After watching for a bit my first thought was, why do they let the woman handcheck so much when that seems to be something they are watching for in the men's game. I did see it called once or twice shortly after that, but still seemed to happen a lot.
