Again, if your team is 34-4, but has only won 6 of its last 9, in conference mind you, and won 9 series in a row, and that is a funk, well dayam kiddies, it's time to panic.

As OP, I must say that the 'funk' is relative to what the team has done so far...So little things make a 'funk'. Losing games to teams at the lower end of the conference and having some quiet bats for several games makes a 'funk'. Granted there are TONS of teams out there that would take our 'funk' as success 10-1 vs the toejams helps 'bust the funk' (70's disco song??) We broke the funk...hadta break that funk Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwww...we broke the funk...hadta break that funk

I do believe that there are fewer "elite" teams in the conference (as in one -OSU!). However, top to bottom the league is comprised of a bunch of tough competitors, and when I checked out the schedules and series info on each team, it seems like even SC sand ASU have been right there in a half dozen games and virtually every series. The Beavs have swept 4 teams, and hiding that even a couple of times this year is tough to do. The bottom line all over the country has been to win the series, and I believe that we've had to win on Sunday in all 3 2-1 series wins in league thus far. I appreciate our tenacity and resolve in finishing...and Jake Thompson!

Everyone has a Friday Night guy that will be drafted, as well as a couple of position players (or more). Depth and coaching are the difference right now - USC ran out of pitchers Sunday, for example, and on any given weekend most teams can win the series - hence the sense of mediocrity. But look at the records nationally, there are only 3 other top 25 teams with less than 10 losses. And 4 Pac 12 teams are in the 50-61 RPI and if they move, my bet is they move up rest of the season.

All great points, and by the way I really dig the "Funk Music".... not so much Funky baseball I don't think we are playing our most consistent baseball, but that may not be a bad thing... yet. I'd rather peak during the tournament then before, think of the 2007 Championship run. While this conversation has been focused on the Beavs and the Pac... can't we also ask if across the nation College Baseball is having a down year? Being ranked #1 is cool and all but I get nervous because the #1 seed doesn't typically win the tournament. I agree that other top 25 teams are not sweeping the weekend and the reasons why are probably not something we would agree on other than it is baseball. I do know that I like watching this team play, when they lose I can see that we are talented enough to win those games, and the future is very bright for this team and the kids playing on it. Now "Play that FUNKY music WHITE BOY!" because the Baseball Funk is gone!
