Feel like Casey is conceding this game in that Mullholand wasn't fooling anyone and when batters stepped in the box I anticipated them making good contact. Mulholland didn't have it today and the coaches let him stay in too long. I guess they were just going on past performance under pressure. Well, sooner or later the sticky situations will get the best of a pitcher. Like you said, he wasn't fooling anyone and it would have been best to pull him.

Playing pretty poorly against a BAD Trojan team. Going to need at least 2 runs in the 10th to keep the game alive. Bats still MIA against a lousy pitching staff. Team effort... pitching as a whole was not sharp and "served up" a lot of very hittable pitches. Offense is/was just pathetic. And (2) unearned runs on the defense or we win in regulation anyway. As many of us said early on... it's baseball... we won games we probably shouldn't have and it all equals out. We do not have a a great offense and the pitching was not going to keep dominating. It is not the first 36 games that determine the post season. We're going to have to improve in many areas. And, one is getting on base with some walks and cutting down on the strike outs. If you're not going to hit the long ball you best be getting some free passes... walks, errors. But, we tend not to put the ball in play to force the other team to make a lot of pressure plays. If you look at out lineup on paper it's not that impressive and the two key cogs are in a big time slump. But... we have the tools and obviously the drive to get better. Now it's up to them to do it.

He's actually got hit hard the last three series... to me he seems to be very tentative and "steering" the ball. His velocity os down and so is the consistent snap on his breaking pitch. On a side note. Today told me exactly where Drew is in his rehab. If he was remotely ready for a start he should have been able to bounce back in relief today after the minimal work last night. Here is hoping he was not sore after that many pitches!!
