31 is a fake to 3rd and then to first, so doesn't have to step off rubber for fake to 3rd

It's not the fake to 3rd, it's the fake to 1st. If still on the rubber, you gotta throw it.

On his fake to 3B his step clears his right foot off the rubber... then turns to 1B. After fake he's now an infielder.

Thanks. Just checking. If the foot stays on it, or comes forward, it is a balk. This crew would miss it.

Has anyone ever seen a 31 move work at the college level, where the runner is picked off? I can't recall ever seeing that.

I have when the offense happens to have a steal or H&R on... runner goes on 1st movement. Typically then results in a rundown trying to score the run. Not really sure I'd consider that "working"... just the situation. |
