It would be nice to have spotted him a big lead, but there's no time like the present to show everyone what you've got.

Come on guys....let's get back into this one. Fehmel doesn't look very sharp right now......just getting hammered on his pitches.

He won't come in until Beavers get some runs back.
It will be interesting to see how Beavers respond to this rare situation.

Not to be unkind, but the 3 worst starts this season for the Beavers have all been with Fehmel on the mound. If Drew can work his way into full recovery by the middle of May, the Beavers will hopefully have a rotation of Heimlich, Thompson, Rasmussen - in no particular order (though Luke seems very well established as the Friday night guy). Fehmel and Tweedt are great candidates for Tue. starts or weekend long-relief. Late inning bullpen in good shape. With that scenario, the Beavers are a legitimate post season/Omaha threat.

Fehmel throws Batting P speed and has to keep the ball down. Has to have control or it becomes a Merry-go-round. Few of his pitches were even below the belt. Go Beavs, we need Runs!

At last! a reason that I'm glad my cable package doesn't include ESPN-U. It's one of those games. Thompson tomorrow with the biggest start of his career. Damn he's been good!..I have faith.

Based on NateY's history with TJ pitchers and Drew's short recovery period, DrewR will be on a short leash. 15 pitches for the first outing in a controlled outing. I would bet some bucks that no more than 60 pitches in a game even in post season.
Now, the starting aspect may come in as that is a way to control the stress pitches. Of course, I know squat.

Fehmel only looks bad because the other guys have been THAT good. His ERA was 3.00 coming into the game. His BA against was .213....lower that it was last season. Obviously if Rasmussen was 100%, he would've been the 3rd starter anyways....but I think just about any other school in the nation would love to have Fehmel in their weekend rotation.

When a returning freshman AA is your weak link you are in general pretty good 'pretty good', but not good enough to win a natty. Face it, 1-1/3 innings and 7 hits today is an absolute failed start. As was his start (though not this bad) against Ohio State 2/24 (a loss, I was there in Surprise AZ., and he was far from being 'sharp'), and April 1 v Stanford, 3 ip, 6 hits, 5 ER. Scorch me for pointing out a weak link if you wish...but a weak link it is, none the less. Returning AA freshman is in the past. April 22, 2017 is now and matters far more.

One thing about our team make me totally insane! For a decent hitting team how the heck do we take soooooooo many 3rd Strikes. Then add the fact with runner on. Oh well...
