Yes, there was some adversity. Blue was pinching. Lack of moving runners and a lack of timely hitting. Ace reliever had a couple bad ABs.
Scratch out a run here, a run there. Get some timely hitting in extras. Ace comes back and shows why he is an ace. Result is another win. Doing it that way and doing it often is a mark of a great team. Even just good teams fall short often. Great teams just find a way to get the job done.
About Blue pinching. Believe it or not, Blue likes to call strikes. Encourages batters to swing and the game goes faster. They get paid by the game, not the hour. Start out with command of the zone and Blue gets some confidence in you and, voila, you get the edges. Sometimes, you get something you shouldn't, but hey, everyone knows you are on and are throwing strikes so they think it was a strike. Next thing you know, the batters are chasing $hit way out of the zone.

I have no clue who Blue is, do you mean the umpire in black?

In retrospect, that double play was crucial. Only get 1 of the 2 and the game ends with a walk-off home run and we all have a grouchy Friday night/ Sat morning. Go Beavs!

What they do is they throw strikes on the first two pitches and then put you on a junk diet and hoover up anything you get a bat on. And then when you accidentally get on or score a run, they say No. You. Are. Not. and get the lead back almost immediately with timely hits and suddenly positive at bats. A greater collective of counterpunchers i do not recall seeing. The postseason would seem to favor this constitution over a team of front runners that is 10 running teams during the regular season and never learning to scrap out victories. Omaha is calling...

They saw the best UCLA has on the mound. Hits and margin of victory will increase as the OS pitching remains solid and the opponents falls apart. See UW series for reference.
