Got to think Wisconsin would like to pay us back for taking their football coach. " Wayne Tinkle (Oregon State head coach)Tinkle guided Montana to the NCAA Tournament in 2010, 2012 and 2013 before getting the Oregon State job in 2014. He led the Beavers to eight Pac-12 wins last season and has them off to a 6-2 start this season thanks largely to the play of Tres Tinkle and Stephen Thompson Jr. I mention that because Tres is Tinkle's son, and Thompson is the son of OSU assistant Stephen Thompson. Both are freshmen. And both could, theoretically, also make the move to Wisconsin with Tinkle, who was, by the way, born in Milwaukee." Others mentioned in this column are Greg Gard (Wisconsin assistant), Tony Bennett (Virginia head coach), Ben Jacobson (Northern Iowa head coach), Bryce Drew (Valparaiso head coach), Saul Phillips (Ohio head coach), and Rob Jeter (Milwaukee head coach). LINK: Possible replacements for Bo Ryan (U. Wisconsin)

Get used to it. Tinkle is going to be mentioned for openings a lot. It sure beats having a coach no one wants.

Can't imagine it happening while Tres is still here

Triple his salary, that would get him thinking.

The whole point of Ryan leaving mid season was to force Gard into the role... so I would assume he is the leader for the position by a long shot

I'm in Wisconsin right now, and I've heard from two people already that they're excited about the idea of Tinkle, and that he'd bring Stevie Thompson and their sons with them. I really don't see that happening with the momentum they've got going right now - no way the kids want to sit out a year, and I don't see their fathers having any desire to stop coaching them. If things continue to progress they way they look like they're going to, I'd be pleasantly surprised if Tinkle stays after this freshman class moves on. Thompson might get the opportunity to coach his own team before then, and I wouldn't fault him for leaving, but having the opportunity to coach your own kid during a special run at a school starved for basketball success has to be hard to give up.

OSU has a lot of room to REALLY sweeten Tinkle's pay. He stepped up pretty good from Montana, but he is still in the bottom end of Pac-12 guys. Tinkle has driven attendance way up from the bottom of CR. We will likely average in the 8,000s for Pac play. also, Fans are not particularly bright many times. Sure it is a nice fantasy, but these kids, that are basically starting as Freshman are not going to sit out a year to transition over to Wisconsin. Also as we learned from CGA, Wisconsin is not the premier coaching destination that I think Whiskey fans want to believe it is. The problems that existed for football ALSO exist for basketball (difficult admission standards, oppressive AD, etc.) I think CGA may have a thing or two to say to Tinkle if Whisky comes knocking.

Winscon basketball could be entering their own post Ralph Miller era. They had made the tournament a total of 5 times ever before Ryan arrived in '99. Filling his shoes is a monumental task.
I also suspect Coach Andersen would have a few words of advice should WT even consider working for Barry.

Feels like UCLA is still trying to find a suitable replacement for John Wooden. Imagine whomever takes over for Coach K at Duke.

You know how people get uo & OS mixed up? We should start a rumor that Dana Altman is available?
Stay away from Tinkle

I know the original thread said Bo Ryan but somehow I read Bob Eubanks, and then I started thinking about Drew. 5 minutes of my life wasted, but, I had no plans anyway, and this update, both Pure Orange and the Titanic are still down, but has anyone asked Angie Machado where she was the night they both sunk? Cheap shot. I'm trying to get more own website started, and it has nothing to do with OSU sports.

Bob Eubanks . . . . . the question on the newlywed game was (or at least close to this) "where is the strangest spot you and your spouse have ever made "whoopi" ?" the answer was, after much thought, Bob, I think that would be in the butt

It is a stupid thread, but give credit where credit is due. The University of Wisconsin.
