Actually heard Colby, bf (?)/friend and parents (his?) talking about GT yesterday evening at Red Robin in Albany in booth next to us... it was brief mention did not hear specifics. Now makes sense!

Happy for her. And glad she didn't transfer in-conference. The yellow jackets are getting a heck of a player and a heck of a COMPETITOR. Beaver nation loves you Breanna. You'll always be welcome here.

I wish Bre Brown the best - she will graduate from OSU, and gave it her all while she was here. Out of idle curiousity, I took a gander at GTs roster: www.ramblinwreck.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/geot-w-baskbl-mtt.htmlAppears to be a lot of "tall timber" on the roster - 5 players 6'3" or taller, and another 6'2" forward. Now I must confess to barely even knowing what conference GT plays in, so I have little idea of the quality of that roster..... Will be interesting to see what role she ends up playing for them..... Again, all the best to Bre..... Go Beavs!

Rueck has an enormous rebuilding task at hand. All the building blocks of the 3-time Pac 12 champs are gone.

About Scott Rueck: I'm 100% confident in his ability to re-load. Beaver couldn't have any better coach going into '17 - '18 season. I think the upcoming team may (in some ways) be better than this past years team. There was at times a detrimental imbalance about the '16 - '17 squad. There would be games when it was pretty much 'as Syd goes, so go the Beavs'. Any basketball team with an outstanding player and leader is prone to the same fate. Next year with Pivec, McWilliams, Gulich (who I believe will dominate), Tudor, Kalmer, Washington, and contributions from an outstanding recruiting class, something tells me that by the time Conference Season comes along they'll be ready to challenge for a very good standing in PAC-12, and a field of 64 berth.

I am looking forward to next season - and to the process of identifying the next wave of scorers, ball handlers, defenders, rebounders for coming years.... I also think that as SR populates the entire 1-12 roster with high level talent, where there is less and less drop off when you go to your bench, our player deployment strategies will be evolving.
Perhaps we had to do this, but as ricke71 points out, we sometimes really pushed the envelope on "Syd brings the ball up and triggers the offense, and we do that even when the other team doubles, triples, hedges, pressures...." - maybe that was the right thing to do (31 wins speaks for itself), but we will have to do something different next year (which is what I look forward to discovering).
Some of the cool questions we will get answers for next year: - who are the vocal, refuse-to-lose leaders? - who wants the ball in their hands in waning seconds of games? - can Marie stay on the trajectory she has been on, and be a double-double machine in the paint? - can Taylor be the 15 point instant offense from the BYU game? - can KTMac be more like that aggressive, 29 point scorer from the season opener throughout the season? - how much can Taya, Joanna and Aleah contribute in year one? - who are the coming season's Kolbie Orums? (heady performance from an unexpected source)
I actually think we will be better than early season prognosticators will peg us at, but I do think we will have a harder time next season keeping the Pac-12 championship string alive :-). As long as we keep our "own the state" streak alive.....
Go Beavs!

I'm sorry, but would someone explain why Bre had to transfer. Actually, I got the impression from reading posts about this that she didn't HAVE to transfer. If that is the case why would she voluntarily leave. I thought she had another year of eligibility left. Thanks.
