Might be better than a 5 team PAC-12 Air Force Iowa State North Dakota State Northern Colorado Oklahoma Oklahoma State South Dakota State Utah Valley West Virginia Wyoming Fresno State Oregon State Arizona State Stanford CSUB Cal Poly SLO That's one of the first thoughts I had as well. Also lends itself to a nice East/West configuration if necessary: West: OSU, ASU, Stanford, CSUB, Cal Poly, Fresno, Utah, Wyoming East: Air Force, N. Colorado, OK, Ok St., Iowa St. ND St, SD St, WVU

Wyoming would (rightfully) cry that they have to travel 1500 miles+ to CA and AZ when there are two teams in nearby CO in the other division. I imagine we'll just take FSU to replace BSU and the status quo will reign.

Be interesting on how this shakes out. Wrestling is moving to a regional sport. Or should I say dying on the W. Coast?
I think the NCAA has a minimum team requirement for a conference to be a 'conference,' I think 6 was that number. For several years B12 had to petition to keep their small conf. in tact as a qualifier when Nebraska, Mizzou bolted (Colorado didn't have wrestling).
Fresno is already B12, from what I understand PAC12 had no interest in adding them as wrestling only. Unfortunately, P12 could give a rip about the sport in the conference. At least that's my take on it.
I'd support the above model, just wonder what conference banner we'd wrestle under, Big 12? Would there be a spat between PAC 12 & Big 12 about that? Would P12 networks even air dual meets? Rough waters ahead methinks.

I imagine we'll just take FSU to replace BSU and the status quo will reign. We (we being Pac-12) were adamant that we would not take any more affiliate schools- which was why Fresno was told to take a hike & talk to the B12. Of course, this could force their hand but that's how they ended up in B12 to begin with. I don't feel warm and fuzzy that we'll fight to keep the conference intact.

If I had to bet I would bet that this is curtains for wrestling as a Pac-12 sponsored championship sport.
