I admittedly was pretty worried last summer about our pitching depth coming into this season - Hickey being injured, Martinek getting lit up in Alaska, Jake Thompson looking pretty inconsistent last season, Tweedt coming off TJ, Rasmussen out, etc etc. Boy, was I wrong. As Yeskie started his post-practice remarks about why the freshman found such early success, a series of baseballs rattled into a nearby bucket. Yeskie motioned to Mulholland and looked around, signaling that he was the only pitcher left continuing to complete drills.
Said Yeskie: "It's no mystery."www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2017/04/freshamn_jake_mulholland_has_b.html

Mulholland continues the recent streak of Freshman surprise pitchers: Boyd, Moore, Englebrekt, Hickey, and Rasmussen. I may have forgotten others, and if I did I'm sure this board will think of them. Jake may move to the starting rotation next year, depends in part on who gets drafted and signs.

He was a 3B all Fall... and without him/his performance we were an afterthought last season.

A segment of our fan base wants this guy out of the weekend rotation. How did Andrew Moore do his 2nd year in 2014? Fehmel era ip h bb so b/avg 2017 3.00 51 39 15 31 .213 pac12 3.38 32 23 12 20 .205 Moore 2014 2.77 94.1 97 26 68 .271 pac12 3.41 63.1 76 20 34 .310

Fehmel is sitting at 14-2 in his OSU career haha. I get that we have some really great bullpen guys and other players who aren't getting an opportunity but Bryce would be a weekend starter on virtually every team in the conference. Just because he hasn't put up the crazy numbers that Luke and Jake have, doesn't mean he needs to be replaced. I wouldn't be shocked if he was our Friday night guy next year -- and based on our pitchers' usual career trajectory, he'll probably be a very good one.
