Go Beavs! Ruth's a proud Canadian. I think playing for her country is a higher priority for her than playing in the WNBA. Especially since WNBA salaries for non-superstars aren't particularly lucrative.

Especially since WNBA salaries for non-superstars aren't particularly lucrative. She probably also squirreled away some $$$ from Aussie play??! And, I'm pretty sure the Canadian Olympic committee is well run and those players are well taken care of for this training period. She might be gaining doing this... not so much monetarily (maybe even), but better care, less stress/erratic travel, building a great rep if they can get the auto bid, etc. Great move by her...
