We sure seem to be loading up on wings (Z. Thompson, Reichle, Hollins).
Not that we don't need help where ever we can get it, but it seems to me that our two most glaring weaknesses - in my mind, a true high-major quality point guard and another low-post 4-5 combo type big - have gone unfilled.
S. Thompson, Manuel (if he stays out of jail), and McLaughlin's point-guard-by-committee didn't work well last year as evidenced by the high turnover numbers and panicked looks on their faces when pressed while bringing the ball up court. They all seem more comfortable on the wing, though many claim McLaughlin to be a point-guard (not yet, anyway).
With Eubanks possibly gone, or at the very least gone after next season, we have no likely replacement for him on the roster.
Any rumors of PG's or PF/C's (beside the skinny French kid) on the horizon?

Well, when this recruiting cycle started, Bruce and Duvivier were both on the team. That's what makes recruiting so hard. You have only 13 schollies, and you have to offer them mostly to HS juniors two seasons in advance. Should Tinkle have pulled the schollie offer from Hollins when he learned that Duvivier wasn't coming back? Or maybe when Bruce left?
Only baseba1111 knows for sure.

Maybe the coaches are of the mind that if you can't get what you want you load up on the best of everything else if you can get it.
I doubt they're ignoring top tier point guards and big posts, and I can't say anything bad about the kids we're getting. We're heavy on wings, but they look pretty darned good. If the point guards and big guys you really want are dead set on going elsewhere, do you settle for getting lesser players at that position this year, or do take good solid kids at the other spots this year and make a bigger push at the next crop of point guards and big guys? If it happens too many years in a row there can be some trouble, I'm not sure we're at that point yet.

Talented bigs and point guards are the toughest to attract as everyone is looking for them. It's not a coincidence that WT's two biggest recruit misses were a JC big and PG that were reaches. I'm also an Illinois fan and it seems every other post in the recruiting thread on that board is that we need bigs. You have to take talent when it presents itself, and there are just more talented wings annually then there are bigs and PGs. Assuming he makes it on to campus, that is why Wilson is such a great get for WT. I'd say WT also has a pretty good track record of developing bigs so far at OSU with Drew and Rako. That leads me to be optimistic that we'll see Kone take a step forward. With his injury, he wasn't able to make strides during the summer last year and got a late start to the year.
