Jake reminds me of Matty Boyd. Impressive freshman reliever who has the stuff to eventually be our Friday night guy, and then go on pitch us to the CWS. His mental approach is tough as nails, gotta love that.

LOL. Some experts on the board are absent from this thread. Jake should not have been on the mound as long as he was. PC, and the "experts" that vote on the awards are wrong. It really is comicable.

Coaches make the call... it was a gamble to extend Jake that long and it did not pay off. Luckily the offense did not make the decision coast us a W. That is the way it happens when you're in charge... sometimes you're the window, sometimes you're the bug. As for the "experts"... at least some on here speak their mind/opinion in a proactive manner, and not with reactive 20/20 hindsight. PS- "comical"

PS- "comical" l think extending Jake was a great move, even though in the 16th he gave up the HR. As a potential 'tryout' as a starter, either later this season, or next, you couldn't ask for a better situation. The HR was off the bat of a very good player (all PAC-12 last season, and an OPS this season north of 1.000). In some cases, good hitters 'beat' good pitchers. The other 3 batters in the 16th recorded fairly routine outs.
