Based on the 19-game winning streak, the best pitching staff in America, our outstanding homefield advantage, our continually improving hitting attack, etc. Oh, and we're probably annoyed we let them take the conference championship last year too. We have the #1 team in America, expecting anything less than a sweep is silly. Doesn't mean the team should take them for granted, but come on. Exactly that. Not to mention, me sleeping on Utah and the actual Beaver baseball players sleeping on Utah are two very different and unrelated things. So yes, I think we will sweep Utah. You think we will take the series. So we disagree by a whopping 1 game. Being the #1 team in America means that you expect that the team will win every home series. It does not mean that you expect a sweep. I am not disagreeing with you, Ocho. I was asking, if you knew something that I did not. Utah was very scrappy last year. They seemed to have a knack last year for besting more-talented teams. Oregon State and Utah each played Nebraska and Ohio State in Surprise and each played Stanford on the road. If you look at the two Stanford series, Oregon State definitely outplayed Utah. If you look at the two Surprise series, Oregon State out-pitched Utah, but Utah out-hit Oregon State. If the hitting is there, I agree that Oregon State should handily take the series from Utah. If it is not, Utah could easily take the series. I am personally very superstitious and discounting a capable team is very bad juju. I can be persuaded that we are a stone cold lock to take three from Utah, but let's discuss the hows and the whys. Once we all agree that that is a pretty safe bet and beat that horse to death, we can discuss playing Washington in Seattle on a short week with the Huskies having an additional day of rest. Until then, I am putting the board on notice that should Utah win the series, any blame for those losses over the next five days should be laid squarely at the feet of beaverbeliever and Ocho.

Counterpoint: you're way too worried about a nobody on a message board predicting a sweep.

You just had to bring that dead horse back to life, didn't you? I hated it when they called the game, and I do think it ended up costing us a post season berth. The fact that the Utes never made their intended flight makes the pill very bitter to swallow. If Sunday's game goes extra innings, I don't give a damn how long it takes to play. No crying, and no ties in baseball!

We made the postseason the year we tied Utah. We beat Texas and lost to VCU and Dallas Baptist in the Dallas regional.
