Good god I really don't think tinkle is the man and I sure did last season. I see us stumbling for 3-4 more years and starting over yet again.
I saw nothing This year that made me believe he had a clue, suddenly looked like a team worse the CR ever put out. No offense scheme, no floor spacing, no imaginative defense, just blah.
tres isn't THAT good, to rescue 11 guys playing like they are high. No wonder Drew wants out, the only one that played with heart.

Yeah. the kid that "fully intends on making the NBA in 2017" is going to find out why GP2 has struggled to land there. He isn't even close. More over... man. one year. In Tinkle's entire coaching career he never had a year as close as bad to this one. He pooped the bed once. chill out. lets see what unfolds in response to this season. Lets not forget, most of the rest of the Pac-12 was pretty dang good this year.

Yup, one bad year doesn't negate what happened the last couple of years here. He was expected to do nothing and had the first back to back winning seasons at OSU since the early 90's. This year the team was led by 2 sophs, some freshmen and a bunch of walkons. This year Stacy, Dew, Dahlen, Sanders and Muller combined for 1240 minutes of playing time. If we get everyone back, and healthy, it'll be a lot closer to zero, especially if Malcolm returns.
Our front court was out-manned this year. With the return of a healthy Tinkle, and an improved Eubanks (assuming he returns), Big G and Kone, it'll almost be a strong point for the team. Early on this year it was basically Drew against everyone, Big G got some time and experience under his belt and the front court started to look better. With Tres returning (he would have added 8 points a game just in foul shot scores this season) the front court will be a handful for most teams that basically loaded up on Drew this year. If N'Diaye returns that's a bonus big body.
I do agree that the offensive scheme needs work. Not sure if that's WT's trademark on offense or if he just hasn't had the players to run it yet, but I get frustrated by seeing them play slow down then 4-7 seconds of one-on-one or some kind of desperation shot when they set up their offense.
The good news is we had one of the youngest teams in the nation last year and if everyone returns that will be less of a case (or excuse) this next season. The high school kids WT has been bringing in (this year and past years) on scholarship are arguably much better than the walk-ons and JC kids we've been relying heavily on this year (frankly we needed them this year, and thanks for their service, but hopefully not have to need them in the future). The team should look much improved this next season. Whether it's up to what everyone wants is yet to be seen, but it's not time to throw in the towel just yet.
I say there's a fair shot at the NIT next season if everyone returns and stays healthy, if Eubanks is gone it gets more problematic.

Yikes... we need some D1 players so those are reduced in half. At least!!! If we land a JC big (or two) that can play I truly would rather have a (guaranteed) healthy N'Diaye return over Drew at this point. With the attitude I've witnessed it's kinda going down the Ionescu "road" for me with Drew. I'm hoping someone shakes his tree a little and he wakes up and sees that developing a coachable attitude and more complete game... and turning around a 5 win team to a post season berth of any kind is the best way to substantially increase his draft stock. And, to me that is only if he comes out a 4 year college player. His game and frame are not ready for the NBA in a one year turn around. Or at least it would have to be one of the most dramatic improvements I've seen. The days of taking "flyers" on bigs is over. Just too many good players our there.

My take on Drew is he's young and frustrated. This year he was basically going one against three much of the season. Offensively he was being double teamed, until Big G got the starting nod he was kinda it underneath defensively. I'm thinking he's a pretty competitive kid and things feel kind of hopeless. Having Tres, or another quality forward, on the opposite side of the lane could really relieve that. He (Drew) has lots of potential.
Drew's situation, as far as the NBA draft goes, is he's not big/strong/experienced (one or two of those at any rate, I think he's plenty strong, just doesn't know how to use it just yet) enough to not be taken advantage of by other NBA post men. He doesn't yet have the consistent 10-20 foot game (both shot-wise and in ball handling) to compete offensively with the power forwards. Defensively against a top notch power forward I have no idea, we really haven't seen him go one on one, which he'd have to do in the NBA, against a quality big forward all that often.
He'll do fine in the measurables if he gets to the combine. He's got the size, can run, is quick, good jumper, and I'd bet he does OK in a bench press if they do that. In my opinion, he needs work on ball handling, moving without the ball in a recognizable offensive scheme (can't blame that one on him so far) and getting his outside game, within the scope of the offense, down. Another year or two at this level would do wonders for him, basically the difference between 2 years in a developmental league and out, or an NBA career. Unfortunately a kid has to be a success fairly quickly in the NBA or they get stigmatized and lost in the shuffle. I don't think he's ready yet.
