It is fair to think that OSU might have been a little distracted and tired after a clash of titans (two top ten teams) that resulted in a sweep against the second best team in the Pac 12 over the past weekend. Then they went down to St. Mary's for the victory over the WCC league leader. That's another nice win.
Now they have to go down to Stanford for a series against a decent Stanford team that has been seasoned against Fullerton State, Rice, Long Beach State and Texas this year. Is the team staying in the bay area this week or coming back up and then going back down? Either way, the team will have to deal with either the exhaustion of a lot of travel or the exhaustion of nearly a week on the road. Then they come back up to Oregon only to go to Portland a week from today.
That's a lot of travelling and a tiring schedule. The team has the potential to sweep the games, but I couldn't blame the players if we lost a game or two in the following week.

We are staying down there for the week. Great way to spend Spring Break for both the players and the fans.

Surprised that St Mary's was getting to our pitcher as much as they were. I realize that St Mary's is a solid squad and we were just coming off of an Arizona high, so we were fortunate to pull this one out IMO. I think the guys are going to be prepared for Stanford......KJ is starting to show his mojo again....Madrigal - don't need to add anything on him. Trevor is another solid threat offensively......neat to watch this team right now. From my point of view, I would rather save some of those dramatic wins at the end of the season when we really need them. Here's hoping the ride continues for another couple of months.

An improbable win to say the least when considering Beavs were down two, only one on, with two outs and St. Mary's lockdown closer on the mound.
My takeaway is that Tweedt is still regaining form, Mulholland can get it done, Madrigal is clutch, and overall that this baseball team has it set on 11.

The "miracle" comeback didn't happen until St. Mary's met the real back end of our pitching staff, and Adley came in. The kid might be hitting bupkus, but he sure seems to be involved in a lot of big scoring moments lately - hustle, hustle and baseball smarts. I won't say that 9 times out of 10 you are not going to get to your last pitch 3 times in an inning and still come back to score 3 to take the lead in the 9th, but this team keeps defying the odds. And when "Mic Drop" Mulholland came into the game, St. Mary's got iced. Also, when other teams bring in their "lock down" closer, I just smile

St. Mary's was a "trap" game, yes. And yes, it is probable that the team will lose a few conference games in the coming week(s). I think you might be over-dramatizing the schedule and especially the travel. Going down to the Bay Area is a short flight and there is no time change. These 18-22 year-olds should not be exhausted by any of it and my guess is that they are relishing in it.

The trap was in putting out a really different team - the mid-week games are a roll of the dice for any coach, because they want to test some other players, pitching rotations, shift people to different positions. Meanwhile, St. Mary's came looking for a way to roll the #1 team in the nation. Also, I am developing either a strong constitution or am right at the edge of a massive coronary - I was sitting in the driveway, supposedly getting ready to go out to dinner, but the 9th made us late, I wasn't budging till the very last pitch. And Andy was safe!

St. Mary's looked like a solid club (and has some good wins - split a 4-game series, beat Vandy, etc.) In the end, another quality road win that should be helpful to the RPI assuming the Gaels continue to do well in the WCC.

I hate it when teams manage to the closer.
