Anyone going?
Have a great hotel in the vicinity you've stayed at?
For past series and football I've always stayed in San Jose, but would like to stay close to the campus this time. Recommendations welcome...

I'm thinking about going.... after a few minutes surfing the internet I agree San Jose seems to have better options for much less money then Palo Alto.
The weather forecast looks great compared to what we have been enduring.

I'd recommend going AirBnB if you are going to stay close to campus. Palo Alto is crazy expensive. If you stay anywhere along the Caltrain Corridor ( www.caltrain.com/stations/systemmap.html ) Likely cheapest options on weekends are going to be near SJC or SFO, with all it's business hotels. You can probably get a good weekend deal via something like Priceline or Hotel Tonight if there's no big events in town (I don't think there is). You can get off at PA and take the free Marguerite shuttle to Sunken Diamond: transportation.stanford.edu/marguerite/about-the-marguerite (not really that far of a walk as well) Tons of Ubers/Lyfts available as well, so not a problem to stay elsewhere (assuming not driving down) - provided you are comfortable using those apps. If it were me, I'd stay in SF near PGE park (easy access to Caltrain), so that I could enjoy the city but easily get to the game via Caltrain. If you want something slower-paced, I'd recommend Mountain View, Menlo Park or Sunnyvale as quieter places to stay with still lots do enjoy, but they are all probably similar in experience (and pricing) to PA. If you haven't been there, Sunken Diamond is a great place to watch a game. Sat in particular is supposed to be warm - if we make it, I'll be hanging out in the GA grass enjoying some shorts weather. Also, be sure to check out Stanford's other sports calendar. For instance, there's a Men's Gymnastics vs. Cal on Sat starting at 4 - if you are a fan of our Women's team, it's a treat to see their men compete, they are world class. www.gostanford.com/calendar.aspx

I have stayed in Mt. View a few times while visiting Stanford at the Hampton Inn there...very reasonable and clean, about two blocks walking to Cal-tran station and Castro Street. Also, Castro street has a TON of good restaurants, nice pubs and bars and shops, all walk-able and easy from the hotel. Mt. View is about halfway between SJ airport and Stanford, about 10-15 minutes from campus and about 10-15 from SJ airport, via car. Otherwise, there are lots of options up and down El Camino Real which is the north/south avenue that goes right to Stanford.

I will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Belmont. It's about nine miles north of Sunken Diamond, but an easy drive. Stayed there many times - nice quality and always clean and reasonably priced.

Recommendations welcome... A million places to stay on El Camino Real, north or south of 'furd. San Jose/Santa Clara are good bets. Restaurants, etc. Good luck, and GO BEAVS!

I wanted to try new spots... I have always stayed near Levi... Across from to amusement park, near SanJose, not to bad to Jack London and my fav BBQ stop, and easy drive up El Camino to Furd. I got a under great deal for air/car and what looks like a fab place along El Camino 3 miles from campus and near San Antonio shops... Dinah's Garden Hotel... we'll see??? If it's not great I'll just drink more in downtown PA in my fav spot NOLA.
Supposed to be a great weekend... games times set yet? Looked this morning and they had not. This is a real big test coming off the high of last weekend. MM will be at his "worst" and have his team ready to take down #1.
