You know, I've seen my wife get worked up when we're the "visitors" at games. I'm a little more laid-back, and sometimes when I just hear home team fans making the usual juvenile jokes and jabs at the opposing team, she hears people being "rude". Of course, she's more likely to think that when the game is close.
She's never been inspired to get into anyone's face about it, but she's been amazed that I can banter with such "obnoxious" people and have everyone smiling (which is the case everywhere I've been outside Eugene).
The way I figure it, you just ran into someone's wife. There's bound to be one or two at every game.
