JJ probably didn't get a lot of sleep last night. I think you gotta walk Hammer with there - 2 outs, creates a force at any base. Take your chances with anyone else...

They must not have wanted to face Larnach who was on deck.

It's a tough call right there.
I'm not going say it was a terrible decision.
I'd probably lean toward walking KJ there, just because he's got the experience, but I can also see not wanting to face Larnach with the bases loaded - he's a really good hitter, and might have the best eye on the team. You start the AB with a ball and that puts a tremendous amount of pressure on the pitcher to throw strikes. I'm not familiar enough with the AZ pitcher to know if he is prone to walking guys.

Great teams find a way to win, when all seems hopeless. 3-1 going into the bottom of the 8th looked pretty grim. Once their starter (who pitched a great game) got tired and started walking people, it it was Katie bar the door. Their bullpen lost this one. You could feel the momentum swing, and despite the crappy weather and late hour of the day, Goss got very loud. Hats off to the fans who braved it out. It was totally worth it.

I can't recall if Parker said that a lefty was warming up to face Larnach. As far as the righty on the bump who faced KJ, Parker noted many times that the guy had severe control problems. The 5 walks in 9 innings is not good, but the 6 hbp and the 6 wild pitches in 9 innings is just plain wild. The wildness factor really comes into play with the little Kwan grounder that moved the runners up. With making the second out, the groundout is not quite as positive, obviously, but with a wild pitch guy on the mound it becomes huge. It also limited the type of pitches that KJ would face.

I don't think walking KJ was a bad decision. Larnach has that good eye and hit the ball hard a few times. Walk Junior to get to Edgar? Pick your poison!

I think the biggest kudos of the nite belong to Pat Casey. The ultimate chess player between the chalk lines, he outcoached Arizona last night. No Pity for the Kitty!
