I notice that early in the season, in blowout victories, Rueck would use both Janessa Thropay and Tarea Green for several minutes - but that pattern didn't continue. Anyone know if that was simply coaches decision, or possibly an injury factor?

I have not gotten a good handle on Scott's approach with regard to his bench. It seems that early in the season he likes to see what he has. He then settles on a rotation (I think that happened during the Play4Kay Vegas tournament).
This season has been funny with Janessa getting injured - she was wearing a boot for a long time, and I don't know where she is at in her recovery. I think Taylor Kalmer also was set back a bit by her injury at the beginning of the season - though that may have helped Mik emerge. I don't know of any injuries to Tarea, but Rueck seems to have settled on Bre and Marie starting, with Kolbie coming in at Bre's first foul and then some sort of alternating from there on out.
Occasionally Maddie would get some minutes, mostly if others were in foul trouble. And now Scott seems to be expanding the rotation to include Taylor a little more.
Another confounding factor is that we didn't have many blowouts.
Go Beavs!

What's a blowout? Over the last two months our biggest margin of victory was 15 points. You aren't going to see a lot of bench-clearing with games like we've seen.
I've heard Tarea has been pretty much day-to-day, but I don't know any details. I think Janessa's foot is Ok, but she lost a lot of development time and I don't think she's really game ready. Maddie hasn't played so far in the tournament, but she had some "serious" minutes in a couple recent games due to foul trouble. Taylor played serious minutes in both tourney games - she seems to get the nod when we need more quickness and moves to the hoop, Kat gets the floor time when Scott wants more height and shooting.
I expect both Maddie and Taylor to be fully in the rotation next year. But it was something of a lost year for Janessa and especially Tarea. I hope that Janessa can take heart from Kolbie's example. She was stuck behind Devin Hunter for three years and barely saw the floor before this year - but she has had a fantastic senior campaign.

It was just under 2 months ago that there was a margin of victory of 20 or greater (Colorado 1/22, by 24 points). Agreed that Kolbie's story is especially rewarding. She has been so very key. That lean back jumper in middle of key is particularly nice...not to mention all of the important rebounds.

I wonder if we will consider applying for a medical redshirt year for Janessa? She has appeared in 8 games, 21 min total..... I know Tarea took a redshirt year last year, so she may not be able to consider that move..... Go Beavs!

The injury only kept her out a short time and she was perfectly capable of playing most of the season. It was not a bad injury.

What I really like about Kolbie - in addition to her rebounding prowess - is her confidence in the low post. After practicing against Ruth, Marie and Bre for years, she knows how she can get to the rim in heavy traffic. Kolbie has been absolutely vital to the team's success this season. She's going to be hard to replace.
