Looking good. Getting Moos back has really helped ASU. Actually pulling for CTT here. S Carolina wins 71 to 68. ASU had their chances late. Funny that stupid CTT picks up a 4th quarter Technical foul and costs her team 1 point that they dearly could have used coming down the stretch. S Carolina also looks like they lost their starting PG with a serious knee injury - she was carried off the floor (not helped off, carried off) by a coach - for the rest of the tourney. |

Didn't SC lose their starter at C before the tourney began? Ouch... that hurts.

Are refs allowed to stop play when the opposing team has the ball in play when a defender is injured? I don't know the rules on that topic and was wondering.....SC PG came up gimpy, ASU headed down the floor with the ball, refs stop the play. Maybe that is allowed, but in the past I have seen teams scramble and take an intentional foul to stop play - why do they do that if the refs are going to stop things anyway?
Also, CTT would have been better served not coming half way out on the floor to make her point - yes, her player was pushed, and yes, there was some home cooking going on, but that T caused a major momentum shift, and not in her team's favor. I will take our coach's calm demeanor any day of the week. There is a fine line between being passionate and out of control, and CCT and that Baylor coach have definitely lost sight of that line.

Go Beavs! Yes refs can stop the play when the opposing team has an injured player. However, short of gushing blood on the floor I won't kill the play if the one team with 5 is on a fast break and the injured player is away from the play. For example, player for visitor goes down in front of her basket with a gimpy ankle, but home team is on a fast break. Once the fast break is over I'll kill the play and allow people on the court. I'd also kill the play immediately if the injured player is likely in the way of any fast break action. CCT flipped out a couple of years ago when OSU was down in Tempe. Like this game it caused a momentum shift in our favor and we won the game rather comfortably IIRC. Looks like she needs to choose her battles better. She definitely deserved that T. Poor time to pick one up too.... |
