He had an unusual delivery. Start on the rubber, turn, step at a 45 towards the dugout, stop, then finish. Sometimes his stop was longer or shorter
Never seen a pitcher stop in the middle of a windup. What would the basis be for a legal/balk call on this move?
I've seen pitchers do a double toe tap but never an outright stop

I think he came to a complete stop and held the position long enough to avoid having it called a part of a continuous windup; Casey and Co didn't make anything of it that was obvious, and his move to first was pedestrian, their catcher was a lot more dangerous with his snap throws.
