Grenier takes care of that lob stat (laughing) with a great swing on a curve after being fooled badly by a curve in the same spot. Beavers best game of the season. Bring Ball State back.

Top 4 in the line-up: 9-16, 4 walks, 3 doubles, 8 runs.
Madrigal is absolutely ridiculous right now. I think JT Snow is a fan lol...

Cary with a ho-hum spectacular catch and a line drive to a perfectly positioned Jack. Defense perfect.

Coach Casey searching hard to find something wrong tonight. He won't know what to do without something to feed the ulcers.

Fehmel leaves after 8 with the one run. Not good enough for me. We expect better. I need another beer.

Saw that thread too. The very mis-informed OP refers to coach Casey as "manager", and even more ridiculously, he dismisses the Beaver BB Program as "bottom feeders". I realize he isn't representative of the more knowledgible ASU fan base...But - on the other hand, it's been 35 years (I think) since ASU won a Natty, and much of their fan base hasn't quite yet caught on that OSU is elite....and ASU is not....still content to talk about Reggie Jackson for goodness sake.

That was a great interview with Murphy. Thank you for the link. On a side note, the Kai Murphy verbal to OSU underscores how Murphy feels about Casey. On the other hand, the Smith interview during the game says that their guy is a total class act. I would not give up on him if I was an ASU fan.

I just read the twitter post on the Smith interview in which Smith said that Madrigal was the best player in the country--not just the best shortstop. Coach-speak for sure, but the proof is on the field. Not fast, too small, no power. I think the scouts blew it out their rear on this one, and Grenier may well be right with Nick as the best glove shortstop in the country. Can I be their agent?

Our performance to date not withstanding... I was definitely wrong about one thing... ASU is NOT... not close... to the best team we've faced. They absolutely have no pitching, and as old time ASU fans sitting by me in section M stated... at 4-0 game was over as they can't score runs either. Bad combo.
My only complaint, as with one game in Surprise with like a 10-1 lead (think it might have been Fehmel then???), just pull Fehmel after 7 with shoutout and on a positive note. Pitch count was fine, but there was no need for him to come out for the 8th, especially with our staff. Get a a youngster in for the 8th also. Instead he gives up 3 hits, a run and ends on a negative after such a strong 7 innings. Not a biggie, but just my personal view.

It's one thing for a team to have a mediocre record, quite another the way they do it. ASU couldn't get out of their own way. Kick the ball around, terrible ABs, and just plain terrible. Class act or not, coach is in trouble.

ASU did defeat the #3 ranked team earlier in the season,TCU, and played the Beavers tough the first game of this series. They have at least one other quality win. I expect a lot better game from them today.

Wildcats have a midweek game this week, too. Hopefully, the weather is not terrible.
