what a day - Beav baseball tonight.. march madness kicking off this morning, NCAA's starting this morning as well. These damn TPS reports are getting in the way here at the office.
NCAA early results (and I'm happy with them!) -
133: Palmer wins 5-2 over the #15 seed Jamal Morris of NC St. His reward is a 2nd round match against #2 seed Seth Gross of South Dakota State.
141: Jack Hathaway PINS THE #7 SEED!!! Way to go Jack! On to the 2nd round and a match-up vs #10 seed, Meredith of Wyoming. Meredith beat Hathaway 3-0 back in January. Definitely a winnable match for Jack.
Delgado up here in a little bit...

149: Joey Delgado with the reversal with 10 seconds to go, beats #11 seed Davion Jeffries of Oklahoma 6-5. Delgado lost to Jeffries earlier this season. Awesome start for the Beavs. Should face the #6 seed next.
3 matches, 3 Beavs knock off higher seeds.
Griego and Crawford still to come in the 1st round...

197: Griego beats Marchok of Stanford (for a 3rd time) 10-7. CG faces #3 seed Kollin Moore of Ohio State. Going to be a tough one...
Heavy: Crawford loses to #9 Seed Dejournette of Appalachian State 11-1. Bummer. Faces Austin Myers of Mizzou in the consoles.
We go 4-1 to open up the first round. Great start.

Day 2 kicking off shortly. All 5 guys still alive on the back side of the bracket. We do have some favorable match-ups (on paper) to start out -
197 Griego vs Williams CSU Bakersfield - CG went 2-0 vs Williams this season
Hwt Crawford vs Nathan Butler Stanford - Crawford beat him twice, but both were tight. Sudden victory in Corvallis in January...
149 Delgado vs Zowitowski of Appalachian State - JD pinned him back in November
141 Hathaway vs Forrider from Ohio - Jack should win that one...
133 Palmer vs Myers Edinboro - Palmer should be favored in that one as well.

133: Palmer wins 9-2. Will face #10 seed Erneste from Missouri next. It's pretty much a buzzsaw from here on out. No easy outs.
141: Hathaway wins by pin. Will face #15 Tyler Smith of Bucknell in the next round. I like his chances there...
149: Delgado loses 5-1 and is knocked out of the tourney.
197: Griego loses 4-2. Out of the tourney. That one hurts. IMO he had the best path to AA. Dang it.
HWT: Crawford wins 5-0 over Butler of Stanford. Faces #15 seed Ryan Solomon of Pitt next.
3 guys left...

Throw in Bresser and Dhesi, and this would have been the best results in years. A few of those years with highly ranked guys weren't better. Good showing, and I have some optimism for next season whereas I was almost in the fire JZ camp 6 weeks ago.

Wrestle-backs - Round 3 133: Palmer wins by pin! Faces #5 seed Micic of Michigan tonight. 141: Hathaway loses by pin. He's done. HWT: Crawford loses 6-0 Down to 1. Would be awesome if he could pull off the upset, but that might be asking a lot. other result of note: Tyler Berger (Crook County) in the semi's at 157 for Nebraska.

No All Americans. Too bad! Thought Palmer had a chance! Hoping for a big step up from next year's squad!
