Focus shifts to next year...
During the season the coach expressed frustration that players did not listen to him, and that he could not connect with the players. But now, in the end of season wrap-up, the fault lies with "curve balls" thrown at the team and he marvels at his players fortitude. I get why he wants to shift the narrative. Seems contrived to me.

The reality of the situation changed as well. Big G finally showed up to the party and Stevie starting playing a lot better. He isn't dumb and knows there is a lot to work on. He just cant strikeout on the JC recruits like this year which may make the difference between a NIT team or a team that could sneak into the dance in 17-18.

What would you like him to say at that moment? I wouldn't call that an end of season wrap up. It was Wednesday afternoon.. they just played their asses off and came up short.

Some humility would be nice. As he did during the season, reiterate that his coaching style is not working. Admit that he has to get better and that his assistant coaches have to get better. There are curve balls every season so you better learn how to hit them.

I think you are reading way too much into a headline. This was far from a year-in-review recap.
