I have attached below a website link to full game video of 6'8" sophomore and OSU signee Joanna Grymek from Seward County College in Kansas. Joanna appears as #55 in the white uniforms. She is now listed at 6'8" officially on the roster after being listed at 6'7" last season. Grymek has averaged 15 points and 8.3 boards during her sophomore season. Her field goal shooting percentage this season is 62.8%.
Grymek moves well for a female athlete with such uncommon size. Watch several possessions and I think you will be intrigued by her potential. In the recent video of a semifinal game shown below, Grymek scored 23 points and collected 14 boards.

Thanks for posting this! It was good to see that she was able to play a lot of minutes. Also good to know how to pronounce her name correctly ("Grimm-itch"). I agree she moves pretty well for someone her size. However, she had to play off of outside shooters quite a ways and many (even though they were fairly short) were able to shoot over her. I didn't see anything close to a hook shot from her. Her teammates did not seem to pass it in to her often and when they did, the pass was often off the mark. She seemed to shoot FT's reasonable well.
I see Rueck as likely using her only in certain situations... where we are playing a zone, the other team is strong inside and their center is not an outside shooter. If we want a running game, she could play a role in making good outlet passes (though I didn't see any of that in this game). If she can't do that, I don't think we'll be able to run any more than we do now. She sure won't be able to run like Marie. She has three years to play two, so it wouldn't surprise me to see Rueck redshirt her next year to give her a year to adjust and develop. That will be harder if Brown does leave and Corosdale can't fill the void quickly. Grymek certainly has potential. If the staff can develop her as they did Ruth (though a lot of that was Ruth's intelligence and self-discipline), she could be a force.

A bit of a project, hopefully Scott and the staff can work some real magic on her presence around the hoop at both ends.

I'll be honest, I wan't terribly impressed either with her video. At 6-8 and at a JC she should absolutely DOMINATE. I didn't see that. A little surprised that SR signed her. He must see something that he can coach up. I trust him.

There is a lot of that that 6'8" provides that you cant teach other players to do. Grymek's stats are as follows Freshman 21.5 min pg 13.4 ppg 60.2 fg% 6.6 Rebounds 2.21 blocks Sophmore 25 min pg 15 ppg 62.8 fg% 8.3 Rebounds 3.12 blocks Ruth stats Freshman 13 min pg 4.4 ppg 50 fg% 2.9 Rebounds 1.1 blocks Sophmore 26.7 min pg 9.5 ppg 57.1 fg% 8.5 Rebounds 4.03 blocks I understand the competition difference but her stats pretty good when compared to one of the bests at OSU. www.osubeavers.com/news/2016/11/9/womens-basketball-joanna-grymek.aspx?path=wbball

If they can get her here for a year and preserve the redshirt, going up against Gulich and others for a season in practice would probably get her ready for a couple strong years.

Seems sorta weak on boxing out...a bit passive. Osahor would eat her alive (but she does that to everyone). On the other hand, gotta love the floor-dive for a loose ball at 19:45 (even though the loose ball was the result of a poor outlet pass by Grymek).

My impression.
She is very tall and has good hands. Pretty good start.

I suspect we might win more opening tip-offs with her jumping center at the start of a game. Would that help us? I don't know - we were 17-2 when we scored first and 10-1 when the opponent scored first (last stats I could find). And it is not clear whether there is direct correlation between winning tip and scoring first (though I suspect it couldn't hurt).
But it did seem like we did not win a lot of opening tip-offs in the Pac-12 this season (my opinion, no stats to back up that perception), which seems odd with a 6'5" player jumping center.

If they are at all athletic and can run the court they will have an impact. Looking forward to seeing Joanna in orange and black. Witaj w domu Joanna.

Rueck's high/low option will dramatically be more of a threat. Marie has proven she can consistently hit the 15-17' shot. Much bigger target hitting 6'8" over Bre or Colby. We had way too many TOs trying to hit the low post from the top. This could make us very tough... not only inside, but kicking it out to Kalmer, Katie, Pivec, etc.

Grymek is a two-for two. She redshirted in 2015.

Grymek is a two-for two. She redshirted in 2015. The buildingthedam.com article at the time she committed said ""She should make an immediate impact at Oregon State and will have three years of eligibility remaining.". I interpreted that as 3 to play 2. I saw another article that did say she was entering her redshirt sophomore year, so you may be right... but there seem to be two stories out there.

I was quoting from her current team's website. Sorry to say that, if you are relying on BTD for professional and accurate reporting, you are likely to be disappointed.

Well, I have high hopes for Joanna given that she was chased by many prominent programs, she was rated the #2 juco and #1 center prospect, and the fact coach SR knows how to scheme offensively and defensively around shot-blocking tall timber. The way our defense started funneling drivers into Ruth, and the way Ruth was used on the offensive side of the floor lead me to believe we will see more of the same - but with a twist, in that Joanna appears to have been evaluated by lots of talent spotters and thought highly of, and she has already been logging time with the Polish National team. I suspect Seeward CC might not have Pac-12 caliber backcourts by which to judge Joanna either.
Joanna becomes a bit of a holistic issue:
Is Bre staying on for the coming year? How quickly does Taya start delivering Mik like contributions? Does Marie stay in town for the summer? Does Joanna get her Associates early and have many months before the season starts in Corvallis? Janessa T was getting D-I volleyball offers along with hoops - the athleticism must be there - will she start contributing next season? Maddie has shown flashes of promise and a high motor, is she a Deven-like rebounding dervish in the making?
We might be in store for another great season next year if Joanna is starting or logging major minutes by the time Pac-12 season rolls around and Bre is still on the roster, or we might be in for a bit more of a challenging season if Bre transfers and Joanna is backing up Marie.....
Will be fun. And so will the bracket reveal in a few hours.....
Go Beavs!
