nice..but give me some not so smart guys that can play ball This is a terrible attitude. I am sorry. Of course we all want a championship team. we all want to root for winners. But never in a million years am I going to want a winning team at the expense of quality kids and integrity. We should want both. not one or the other. And if I had to choose, I would choose good quality smart kids that are going to go out and make a difference in the world when their playing days are over. There are way more important things in life to worry about. After all. they ARE there to play school...

I don't understand why people like ftd want to piss in everyone's wheaties. Here's a piece of good news - really, *amazing* news - and folks still have to gripe.
I guarantee that the coaches have tweeted this out to every recruit - and mailed a clipping to every recruit's parents - on their list. And for some of those kids, this really matters. For a lot of kids, a scholarship is their ticket to a better life and at OSU they know that they are going to get the academic support they need to make the most of it. (This is huge for recruiting Juco transfers.) Some kids are already there, academically, and they will appreciate being part of a program that honors the "student" part of "student-athlete". These honors are major asset for recruiting, and it reinforces our image of substance-over-flash.
